As part of a passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of rocket engine final assembly production at our new, state of the art facility in Huntsville, Alabama. The Manager - Final Engine Assembly, will lead a group of team leads and technicians in day-to-day execution of critical engine component assembly, cleaning and testing. Hardware assembled by this team includes turbo-machinery, combustion devices and valves. This position will be responsible for Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule and Morale for the team. This is a hands-on position that requires versatile leadership, effective communication, and strong project management skills.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the day to day operations of the Final Assembly work center and associated equipment
• Provide mentoring, training and skills development for team members
• Promote and inspire teamwork and employee morale
• Promote and ensure workplace safety
• Develop and monitor department metrics (Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule, OEE)
• Perform critical administrative activities including recruiting, performance reviews, coaching, resource planning and budget management
• Maintain department production schedules to ensure internal delivery targets are met
• Collaborate with team members and support engineers to address capacity and scheduling conflicts
• Drive process improvements to reduce setup times and machining times
• Establish, maintain and improve workplace 5S and FOD controls
• Provide status updates on hardware deliveries at daily schedule meeting
• Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained and calibrated
• Willing to travel to the customers, vendors or other Blue Origin manufacturing sites.

Qualifications:

• 5 years of leadership experience in manufacturing of aerospace, defense, automotive or similar complex components or processes
• Experience in setting up, commissioning and activating production equipment
• Proficiency in business/office computing software
• Previous experience in establishing, and managing department budgets
• Excellent demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
• Experience assembling and troubleshooting complex components and precision assemblies
• Familiarity with pressurized system safety for pneumatic and hydraulic systems
• Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems, Non-conformance Systems, MRP Systems and Engineering Product Management systems
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:

• B.S. degree in Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechanical field.
• 7+ years' experience in assembly/production
• Experience with cleanroom environments
• Knowledge of 3D CAD tools
• Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications and drawing requirements
• Knowledge of a variety of fluids including GN2, GHe, hydraulics, rocket propellants and cryogenics
