Job Description

General Purpose

As a member of the Business Intelligence Team, the Electronic Health Record (EHR) Administrator will oversee and be responsible for the comprehensive and coordinated functionality of the health record.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Recommends and develops effective custom or reconfiguration solutions based upon understanding clinical and business work-flows and requirements.
  • Uses analytical solutions to ease the administrative burden for clinical staff.
  • Designs the record with input from clinical and business leaders to maximize the effectiveness of the record.
  • Collaborates with internal and external partners to problem-solve and optimize the use of theHER including managing the relationship with external developers to optimize effectiveness of contractual relationships.
  • Advises and educates appropriate staff on customization opportunities and capabilities.
  • Authorizes and coordinates recommended EHR system changes to insure system stability.
  • Participates in needs analysis activities with appropriate internal and external participants
  • Gathers business requirements and associated workflows.
  • Tests, supports and improves customizations.
  • Responsible for implementing E.H.R. solutions that collect and report clinical and business data.
  • Develops effective relationships with end-users and other team members.
  • Enhances the timeliness and effectiveness of proposed and implemented solutions.
  • Responds promptly to appropriate service tickets as assigned and oversees all E.H.R. help desk related tickets.
  • Participates in job-related training sessions and seminars.
  • Attends required staff meetings.
  • Maintains prompt and regular attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency with the Electronic Health Record System including experience with implementing and maintaining records in behavioral health or acute care with 24/7 operations.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team of technical and data focused employees.
  • Strong customer service skills with demonstrated success in working with multiple partners and departments to fulfill the mission of the organization.
  • Experience with report writing
  • Ability to perform EHR application evaluation through measures or performance indicators.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft SSMS/SSRS, PowerBI, Crystal Reports, Microsoft Office and Adobe
  • Ability to gather and analyze data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations.
  • Ability to think critically and solve complex problems.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to recall and organize content.
  • Ability to effectively carry out project management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to view computer monitor for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform accurate data entry.
  • Ability to handle internal customers in a welcoming, calm, professional, friendly and patient manner.
  • Ability to think and react quickly and effectively to tense or emergency situations.
  • Ability to comprehend or learn department practices, rules and regulations.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask under stressful situations.

Education or Formal Training:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelors' degree in healthcare informatics, data science, software engineering, healthcare administration, or similar analytical discipline preferred.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years' experience designing, developing or implementing EHR or similar software solutions in a healthcare provider environment required, environments with 24/7 operations of behavioral health experience preferred.
  • Must have at least 5 years' experience working in health or medical related fields.

Working Conditions and Other Conditions of Employment

Working Environment:

This job operates in a fast paced, professional office environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, headsets and photocopiers. The position may require travel to conferences, meetings and branch locations on a regular or intermittent basis. Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. In the health center environment, there is potential for contact with blood-borne pathogens and communicable diseases, as well as potential for contact with dissatisfied or abusive individuals. There could be interaction with persons who are mentally ill, disabled, elderly and emotionally upset.

Physical Activities:

These are representative of those which must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This is a largely sedentary role but can involve standing or sitting for extended periods of time, bending at the waist, and using hands and fingers to handle and file papers or operate assigned equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Employee may also have to lift 10 to 25 lbs. unassisted.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Annual TB, federally required drug screening, and Influenza vaccination or compliance with policy and procedure.
  • Required possession of a valid state driver's license.
  • Successful candidate must submit to and pass, post-offer drug screen.
