WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview):

The Senior Program Manager, Disaster Spiritual Care is a remote position encumbered within the National Headquarters (NHQ) Disaster Services Department, Client Care Program (CCP). The position reports to the Manager, Client Care Program, Individual Support Program Unit. The incumbent of this position leads and manages the national Disaster Spiritual Care (DSC) program, including informing the development, dissemination, and oversight of all program policies, procedures, and training; identifying opportunities for process improvement; and providing support and guidance to DSC volunteers in divisions and regions on a day-to-day basis and during disaster relief operations. The Senior Program Manager also supports the Client Care Program's Systems and Compliance Unit, the Client Care Readiness and Planning Unit, and other Disaster Services branches with subject matter expertise, as needed.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities):

  • Manage all aspects of the Disaster Spiritual Care program, including informing for the purpose of the development, dissemination, and oversight of policies, tools, training, and metrics to ensure program efficacy and efficiency.
  • Serve as a Disaster Spiritual Care subject matter expert within the American Red Cross.
  • Collaborate with staff across Disaster Services to ensure that Disaster Spiritual Care program components are supportive of and integrated with other programs to provide holistic guidance and support to the field on client-facing activities (e.g., sheltering, reunification, disaster health services, disaster mental health, disaster intake, casework and recovery planning, and disability integration).
  • Provide support in the development and execution of the Red Cross Disaster Worker and Family Support program and services.
  • In collaboration with the field, recruit, train, and engage Disaster Spiritual Care volunteer leaders to advise disaster relief operations, divisions, and regions.
  • Develop and maintain partner and stakeholder relationships to strengthen and support the execution of Disaster Spiritual Care services in the field.
  • Develop and manage a volunteer leadership team to provide remote support and guidance to Disaster Spiritual Care leaders as needed on disaster relief operations.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned

Standard Schedule: Must be available to work a standard Eastern Time zone schedule during non-operational periods. May need to adjust work schedule to accommodate communication and consultation with active Disaster Relief Operations outside the Eastern Time zone. All full-time employees in Disaster Services must be willing and able to be deployed to Disaster Relief Operations, as needed. There is 40% travel for this position.

The salary range for this position is $95,216.00-$112,528.00.

This job will be posted for a minimum of five business days and extended if the applicant pool needs to be expanded.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Education: Master's degree in Divinity, Theology or comparable academic discipline.
  • Supervisory Experience: This is a non-supervisory position.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
  • Skills & Abilities: Must be able to work in a remote team environment and be able to work independently with initiative and lead an assigned area of responsibility with minimal supervision. Ability to exercise sound judgment in complex situations with competing priorities and interests. Demonstrated ability to coach and/or mentor. Proven track record of collaboration, facilitation, and leadership. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of how to develop project plans, budgets, and strategies to achieve organizational goals. Strong analytical and decision-making skills to develop creative processes for continuous program or service improvements. Intermediate level proficiency with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Experience using online webinar software for training purposes preferred. Ability to follow prescribed procedures.

WHAT WILL GIVE YOU THE COMPETITIVE EDGE (Preferred Qualifications): Training in Clinical Pastoral Education and Board Certification in the Association of Professional Chaplains, National Association of Catholic Chaplains, or National Association of Jewish Chaplains. Experience engaging and leading volunteers. A minimum of 2 years of program management experience.
