Primary Purpose

Analyzes information from internal and external sources to develop business cases that drive informed decision making. Builds and maintains market data and analytic resources to support strategic and business planning.

Minimum Specifications

Education

  • Must have a bachelor's degree in health administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Public Affairs, or a related field.

Experience

  • Must have one year of experience in health care planning, strategy, and/or marketing.

Equivalent Education and/or Experience

  • May have an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in lieu of specific education and/or experience as stated above.

Skills or Special Abilities

  • Ability to make well organized presentations to hospital management and senior management staff.
  • Working knowledge of the health care environment including market dynamics, regulations, and reimbursement methodologies, business planning and financial modeling.
  • Demonstrate a proficiency in data synthesis and analysis to respond to business questions and drive informed decision making, including statistical and quality research methods.
  • Good listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Intellectual curiosity regarding the future of health care and how changes in the environment can impact the delivery of health care services.
  • Strong database management skills, including hospital and industry data.

Responsibilities

  1. Identifies operational needs of Parkland departments through annual stakeholder meetings. With oversight, analyzes data and with department and support staff determines options available. Working with department leadership, creates business cases to support best option identified.
  2. Serves as the primary resource for market data, collecting and analyzing information to support market changes and impact estimates to operations. Researches and collects demographic, utilization, incidence, prevalence, and other data, performing statistical analyses. Develops market studies, special reports, and impact statements to support leadership decision making and to orient and educate both internal and external stakeholders to Parkland's market position.
  3. Using findings from annual stakeholder meetings and guidance from the department director, researches long term needs, identifies resource requirements, and recommends solution for consideration in future years.
  4. Assists in the development of the Business Planning and Development department goals, project budgets, and critical planning timelines to ensure Parkland is prepared for all planning cycle activities and that related processes are in alignment.
  5. Works directly with Decision Support, Information Technology, and other stakeholders to understand internal data and structure and apply analytic capabilities to strategic and business planning activities.
  6. Provides representation on various healthcare planning committees/coalitions, coordinates/facilitates services when applicable, promotes the mission and goals of the hospital and cultivates/maintains a positive working relationship to maximize services to internal and external customers.
  7. Assists in managing the portfolio of strategic initiative requests.

Job Accountabilities

  1. Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland.
  2. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
  3. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.
