We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical and Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Designer to join our growing team. The successful candidate will work on various projects for municipal, industrial, and federal clients for facilities primarily serving the water and wastewater industries. In this role the candidate will support our multidisciplinary engineering and project management teams through drafting of 2D or 3D conceptual design layouts during project definition phases, detail design and record drawings, for power distribution, controls, lighting, grounding, process instrumentation, and P&IDs, with adherence to Brown and Caldwell or client drafting standards. Detailed Description:

  • For the right candidate, this position offers the opportunity for significant professional growth and the potential to collaborate with local, regional, and national teams. In this role, your responsibilities will include electrical and/or I&C design services to develop design documents using AutoCAD, Plant3D, Revit, and BIM. We are looking for candidates who have experience in executing industrial and municipal electrical and I&C design work. Ideal candidates will have experience working with engineers and/or contractors; and will take pride and ownership of their work to ensure quality deliverables within the project budget and schedule constraints. This role has the potential to work virtually and can be filled near any BC office, preference of Phoenix or Irvine.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • AutoCAD, AutoCAD P&ID drafting and Revit modeling as required supporting staff engineers to develop complete electrical, instrumentation and controls design plans and systems.
  • Interpretation of markups to update electrical and I&C design plans, layouts, single line diagrams, control schematics, P&IDs and network diagrams.
  • Ability to work remotely and independently on tasks assigned by senior staff.
  • Support design development for facility power, control, lighting, grounding, P&IDs, and network diagrams.
  • Support design development for power distribution, motor control systems and controls schematic development.
  • Collaborating with local, regional, and national teams of technical experts in electrical and I&C design.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years experience using AutoCAD and Revit for creating design and construction drawings.
  • Understanding and experience with Process and Instrumentation Control Diagram (P&ID) development in Plant 3D or AutoCAD P&ID is a plus.
  • Field/Contractor experience in working with electrical and I&C systems a plus.
  • Technical training and/or education in the design and/or construction of electrical and I&C systems is a plus.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an electrical and/or I&C designer in the municipal water/wastewater and/or private industry preferred.
  • Position can be in-person, hybrid, or remote.

Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A: $30.10- $41.40
Location B: $33.20- $45.50
