Our Sumter, SC location is seeking a Sr Staff Manufacturing Engineer to join our team.

THE POSITION

Sr Staff Manufacturing Engineer, Continental Tire The Americas, LLC, Sumter, SC:

Develop, coordinate, execute and explore new/innovative automations technologies and solutions that can be used for continuous equipment improvement and efficiency, scrap reduction, energy saving, reliability and performance that may include PLC programming development, hardware and/or software updates for Manufacturing Equipment. Provide 24/7 high level automation technical support for machines/manufacturing systems and specialized controls systems during emergency breakdowns. Developing and documenting sophisticated problem solving approaches specific to Continental (Knowledge Management). Coaching local engineering team and external suppliers on PLC Interfaces communications and logic. (Conduct trainings). Interact, facilitate, and collaborate with Continental’s Central Engineering Team and Manufacturing Equipment Suppliers to ensure fast solution for technical problems and the development of new projects. Develop, implement and/or coordinate machine hardware and software upgrades for discontinued automation equipment. Provide technical support for maintenance and utilities departments in/with automation projects for Manufacturing Equipment and contribute to reach departmental and plant KPI’s. Maintain and execute PLC modification management procedures.

Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field, plus 5 years of related work experience.

Of the required experience, must have experience in each of the following:
· 5 years of Electrical Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment;
· 5 years of PLC programming and commissioning experience in Siemens and Beckhoff control systems, including Siemens SIMATIC and TIA Portal Family, WinCC, PROFINET, Beckhoff TwinCAT System Manager and PLC Control;
· 2 years of experience working with Manufacturing Execution Systems, including shop floor execution systems (including SFI or CGMS) with PLC (CSMI) and SQL Server;
· 2 years of experience utilizing signal analyzing tool (IBA Tool) for technical analysis of PLC behavior;
· 2 years of experience utilizing IPC Management including disaster recover tools such as Versiondog and Acronis;
· 2 years of experience utilizing Cybersecurity software such as McAfee Integrity Control and Application Control;
· 1 year of Electrical Engineering experience in a tire manufacturing facility while utilizing and understanding details of the tire manufacturing process chain.
