Job Description

The Operations Manager's role supports the business strategies and activities of a number of underwriting departments, by ensuring the staff complies with production, quality and service metrics in order to provide exceptional customer service.

What you will do for C&F:

Manage Workflows

    Implements operational discipline and plans for delivery of high quality service to customers.
  • Manages flow of work performed by staff across Profit Centers, to and from Underwriters and Producers, assuring service, productivity and accuracy.
  • Manages assignment and distribution of work across offices/departments using the ImageRight electronic filing system.

Insurance and Technology Resource

  • Acts as the Q&A resource for Management, Underwriters, and the Operations staff.
  • Collaborates with IT regarding systems support, performance, problem-resolution and automation advancement.
  • Represents Underwriting Operations on key corporate projects pertaining to quality, workflow, IT initiatives, new departments, etc. to ensure corporate processes and procedures are adhered to.
  • Knowledge of Submission, ImageRight, WINS, Duck Creek, Policy Decisions premium and issuance systems.

Performance Management, Development & Training

  • Manages the day-to-day development of the Underwriting Operations staff with respects to coaching, counseling, and the Check-In To Engage (CITE) process. Works with AVP of Underwriting Operations and Human Resources Business Partners as necessary.
  • Drives the Quality Assurance Program (QAP) for the Underwriting Operations Support Staff.
  • Oversees, creates documentation and/or conducts training of Underwriting Operations staff in all aspects of the following:
    • Rating, booking and issuing Property, General Liability, Auto, Package, Workers Compensation and Umbrella transactions including new business, renewals and endorsements
    • Use of proper forms and endorsements
    • Bureau, DMV and various third party reporting requirements
    • Conducts quality reviews of policy files and transactions, i.e., new business, renewals, endorsements
  • Anticipates plans and recommends appropriate staffing changes to the AVP of Underwriting Operations. Interview and hire new Underwriting Operations staff.
  • Communicate and collaborate with other departments within the corporation to answer policy questions, resolve issues, and identify ways to streamline processes.
  • Work with system support to test releases when the verification of successful programming involves a review of the production environment.
  • Prepares and distributes management reports (i.e. production/quality). Uses information analysis tools, technology and key metrics to make decisions. Represents the team in meetings with management and provides input for management decision making
  • Develops and maintains relationships and resolves operational and procedural difficulties/issues with management, work teams and customers as necessary.
  • Performs all other duties and special projects as assigned

What you will bring to C&F:

  • At least 5 years of commercial lines rating and issuance experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years management experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Excellent customer service and strong communication skills including the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Exceptional knowledge of Microsoft software -- Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to travel, up to 15%.
  • Will abide by departmental policies and procedures, including authority levels, to comply with C&F's risk management controls.

Salary ranges are available for all positions at this location, taking into account roles with a comparable level of responsibility and impact in the relevant labor market and these salary ranges are regularly reviewed and adjusted in accordance with prevailing market conditions. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of %58,700.00 to a maximum of $133,400.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee's contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range. You may also have the opportunity to participate in discretionary equity (stock) based compensation and/or performance-based variable pay programs.
