General Description:
Lead the development of the overall Workday Payroll systems strategy in support of the business and HR strategies. Oversee payroll for all locations in the United States and Canada and develop best practices across the enterprise.
Responsibilities:
Manage day to day payroll operations.
Coordinate within the enterprise HR, Benefits, and Payroll team to achieve the processing of payroll within all regulatory, labor and tax guidelines.
Oversee and approve payrolls, ensuring all processes are followed with accuracy.
Effectively lead and grow a strong, motivated team.
Develop payroll policies and best practices and contribute towards efforts to standardize payroll procedures and continuously improve services.
Create payroll reports, data files, and adhoc analyses needed to support G/L and finance and other requests.
Oversee preparation and filing of quarterly/annual payroll tax forms (i.e., Form 941) and reconciliations.
Manage external relationships with 3rdparty vendors, quality assurance procedures to validate and reconcile payroll data.
Create training materials and provide training, coaching and assistance on payroll processes with the payroll team.
Support and provide direction on Kronos, Workday, ADP and other payroll process system's setup, maintenance, upgrades and enhancements.
Create and report KPI (key performance indicator) payroll metrics for the enterprise.
Act as the lead point of contact for enterprise payroll related items.
Serve as liaison between business units and system vendors to resolve issues and problems.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree
6-8+ years of Payroll and HR systems experience both in the United States and Canada
3-5 years of leadership experience
Thorough understanding of payroll functions and processing
Possesses a strong systems mindset
Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
Strong accuracy and attention to detail
Strong problem-solving skills
Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Proven project management experience
Ability to communicate at both general and technical levels
Preferred Requirements/Skills:
Certified Payroll Processor (CPP) designation
Workday Payroll Experience
Multi-employer union payroll experience
Manager/vendor management experience
