Develop an understanding of Melwood activities, grants, sub-awards and internal and external financial reporting requirements to ensure proper data collection and documentation to facilitate accurate and timely reporting.
Perform administrative duties contributing to the grants management process through the full lifecycle of a grant. This can include assist with preparation of grant budgets and financial documents for applications and amendments, and preparation of financial reports to project managers and funding agencies by using data from accounting system.
Develops implementation tools to be used by staff for effective management of grants, grant agreements, and gift agreements. Will work closely with Melwood's Community Services, Finance, Legal, and other relevant departments.
Serves as the organization's subject matter expert in the area of grants by maintaining current, up-to-date knowledge and understanding of all regulatory, statutory, and administrative grant requirements.
This position requires an understanding of Federal grants and code of Federal Regulations (CFR), budgeting, accounting, and financial systems in order to gather appropriate reports from financial systems and accumulate appropriate backup documentation with some degree of independence.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree plus at least three years of relevant financial grants management experience preferred, or a comparable combination of knowledge and skills. Strong planning, administrative, organizational, and budget management skills. Ability to communicate effectively with and represent the Fund Development department to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Ability to work effectively with cross departmental staff members and affiliated organizations. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the willingness to work both independently and collaboratively across a multi departmental organization. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications, intermediate experience level preferred. Must possess strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
Software experience of Blackbaud Raisers Edge NXT, Unanet, Agiloft preferred.
Grants management experience for a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) and specifically with Federal OMB Regulations is preferred. Experience with general ledger, financial software, (preferably Unanet), financial statements, reconciliations, budgets, and audits, is a plus. Experience with Agiloft is also preferred.
Develops policies and procedures to meet organizational standards for grants management. Maintains responsibility for keeping policy documents and any manuals current and communicating updates to all staff with related responsibilities.
