Sentara Health is seeking a Healthcare Data Analyst to join our Health plan Medical Economics team!

Job Description Summary:

The Healthcare Data Analyst provides data analysis support to the customer by assisting with the development of reports and/or dashboards to monitor program and operational performance. Promotes self-service analytics for customer adoption, understanding and use of data.

Required Skills/Experience:

Bachelor's degree Required.

1-2 years of experience in Medicaid/Medicare support role: Regulatory reporting, Claims data support and analysis, Claims Support analytics, Cost and utilization analysis

  • Working knowledge and understanding of healthcare claims analytics and data modeling.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining simple and complex reports.
  • Ability to analyze data, provide solutions and communicate results/insight effectively to business owners. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Clear understanding of various coding and reimbursement methodologies common to managed care payers (CPT codes, ICD-10 codes, diagnosis codes, EAPG, APR-DRG, Rev codes, etc.).
  • Knowledge and solid moderate experience with SQL, including understanding of data warehousing, data mining, and relational database concepts and technologies based on multiple data sources.

Other Relevant Experience:

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Should possess experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals with the ability to prioritize assignments, deal with interruptions and meet deadlines with limited supervision in a fast-paced and growth-oriented environment.
  • Performs thorough review of work to ensure accuracy, correctness, and completeness related to the parameters of the request.
  • Performs necessary benchmark comparison testing and utilizes available resources to perform accuracy testing of data or analysis results.
  • Dashboard development in Tableau/Power BI

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Clinical analytics / medical management support experience.
  • Experience with Medicaid/Medicare provider contracting Experience with Jira project management.
  • Advanced SQL skills.
  • Advanced Tableau/Power BI development skills (including Python, Java, and API development)

Job Summary

The Healthcare Data Analyst provides data analysis support to the customer by assisting with the development of reports and/or dashboards to monitor program and operational performance. Promotes self-service analytics for customer adoption, understanding and use of data. Supports design of programmatic analyses and reporting capabilities in addition to business requirement definition for new analyses and performs ad-hoc analysis as directed. This position supports data quality and data stewardship functions to maintain data accuracy and identify new metrics. As a subject matter expert, the Healthcare Data Analyst uses analytic skills to offer data-driven conclusions and recommendations to business partners.
