Job Description

The Skilled Maintenance Mechanic reports to the MT Lead/Site Engineering Manager and is responsible for installing, modifying and maintaining mechanical and other equipment/systems in the plant. The incumbent must be competent in millwright skills plus any of the following skill areas: pipefitting, welding, and sheet metal.

Key Elements:

  • The Skilled Mechanic will have knowledge of plant equipment in general and be expected toefficiently learn specific process operations, systems, and personnel. They will be capable ofindependently installing, modifying, and maintaining mechanical and other equipment.
  • Interpret schematic drawings and vendor documentation with comprehension to perform tasks.
  • Design, plan and construct special devices, supports and components for equipment as required.
  • Withdraw equipment, components, and materials from the stockroom inventory system and ordermaterials from vendors as required.
  • Observe mechanical or other problems and self-initiate corrective measures.
  • Performs routine maintenance via the work order system and work management process.
  • Comprehend and comply with critical quality, environmental, and safety policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in departmental meetings and work sessions.
  • Install complex piping systems by cutting, preparing, and assembling piping components in anefficient manner.
  • Prepare metal components for welding and perform the appropriate weld process.
  • Understand and perform detailed machine shop practices with quality and precision.
  • Be available for overtime and call-outs. Maintain a working telephone number with message capabilities.
  • Must be able to communicate via e-mail, radio, and other standard means.
  • Lift 40 pounds routinely and heavier weight occasionally with the help of others or lifting devices. Climb, stoop, squat, and perform work in confined areas and difficult to reach conditions.
Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in industrial maintenance or completion of a millwright apprenticeship and four year maintenance experience.
  • The ability to use a personal computer, including applications such as Microsoft Teams, email,SAP, Excel and Word is essential.
