Homestead Advisers is looking to add a senior leader to help shape and run our intermediary distribution sales team. Homestead isn't your typical investment manager. Founded in 1990 by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), our start-up story is unique. Our roots run deep in providing high-quality, affordable investment products to over 400 electric cooperatives and their members through investments in Homestead Funds. Born from managing pension and defined benefit plans sponsored by NRECA, this history has shaped our approach to investing and distinguishes us from other firms.

Summary of Position

Serves as the senior most distribution person responsible for defining and leading the third-party sales effort for Homestead Funds. Creates and executes a gatekeeper-centric distribution strategy focused on growing AUM across intermediary channels, most notably the registered investment advisor channel. Identifies and executes strategies for Homestead to expand its brand and product offerings to other financial institutions such as retirement platforms, bank trusts/private banks or via sub-advisory mandates through institutional consultants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a member of the Homestead Adviser's leadership team and as the intermediary distribution executive, sets organizational strategy and educates other leaders within the firm on third-party sales strategy. Oversees staff and resources related to intermediary distribution and builds, leads and executes Homestead Funds sales activities targeted to third party distribution channels.

  • Drives asset sales into Homestead's suite of investment products by identifying and targeting centers of influence, due diligence teams, product professionals and senior leadership at RIA's and large financial institutions.

  • Designs and implements an annual business plan and executed through strategic focus firm management, targeted advisor prospecting, working closely with marketing team, and awareness campaigns including conferences and regional events.

  • Promotes the Homestead Funds brand and cultivates new business prospects by representing the firm at industry conferences and events nationally.

  • Contributes productively to Homestead's culture which is deeply rooted in client centricity and making decisions based on long-term value versus short-term gains.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, communications or related field. Advanced degree such as MBA, CFA, CIMA or CFP preferred.

  • 15 or more years of intermediary sales experience, coupled with an established network of relationships within the third-party distribution marketplace, specifically RIA's and financial institutions.

  • Experience and track record of success selling to gatekeepers, research groups and due diligence teams at home offices of large financial institutions.

  • FINRA Series 7, 65 and 26 required.

  • Investment acumen across a broad spectrum of traditional asset classes including equity and fixed income.

  • World class leadership skills, including attracting talent and mentoring and developing others.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

  • Ability to communicate product portfolio features and articulate investment philosophy and process, portfolio holdings and the rationale behind portfolio construction.

  • Ability to think strategically and creatively about how Homestead Funds can enter new markets and distribution channels.

  • Ability to act as a role model and resource for other employees and upholds the firm's core values

  • Ability to provide service excellence by building relationships, being resourceful, responsive and respectful.

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.

  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
