Job Description Summary

Responsibilities include overseeing the preparation, negotiation, acceptance, and management of contracts and subcontracts. Responsible for overseeing the review and approval of contractual documents for protection of the company's contractual posture, satisfaction of government specifications and requirements, and adherence to company policy. Works with the sales, service, and product development/engineering organizations to ensure detailed contractual obligations can be satisfied. May be responsible for negotiating, structuring, and/or administrating contractual documents that establish business relationships with vendors, customers and/or partners.
Having wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel (Team Lead). Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree.

Maxar is looking for a Sr. Contracts Specialist to join our team in Herndon, VA or Denver, CO. Maxar supports U.S. Government and corporate clients with leading-edge intelligence expertise, systems engineering, and technology addressing their most challenging issues. We are seeking a talented and experienced Sr. Contracts Specialist to join our Contracts staff. We are a flexible and fast-paced organization that contracts with government and industry customers as both prime and subcontractor.

What you'll do day-to-day:

* Responsible for review of proposals for compliance with Government regulations and company best practices as well as providing input to support the development of competitive pricing.

* Negotiate third-party agreements and coordinate with management or Legal staff to achieve favorable terms and conditions in accordance with company policy.

* Monitor contractual performance across the enterprise to mitigate performance, cost, and schedule risks.

* Reports weekly to executive leadership, contracts that have risk exposure including contracts at 75% of funded value, and within 90 days of delivery.

* Work closely and develop good working relationships with external and internal stakeholders by establishing a routine, professional communications, both verbally and in writing.

* Responsible for maintenance of contract data in company database(s), contract files, and the submission of ad-hoc reporting as needed.

* Support internal stakeholders on other contract related projects and tasks.

Minimum Requirements:

* Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain to a security clearance.

* Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field. Four additional years of relevant experience may be substituted for a degree.

* 10 years of experience with the review, preparation, negotiation, and monitoring of federally funded contracts with n the defense and intelligence community.

* Working knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation, Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation, Truth in Negotiations Act, and Cost Accounting Standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Current/active TS/SCI security clearance.

* Must have excellent analytical skills, effective written and oral communication skills, effective negotiation skills, and strong interpersonal skills.

* Must be able to identify and resolve complex contract issues and advise program staff and management of contractual rights and obligations.

* Demonstrated ability to identify issues and problems on assigned contracts and make independent recommendations to direct supervisor(s), program staff, and business unit management.

Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate's unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:

$101,000.00 - $169,000.00 annually.


Additionally, this position is incentive eligible with a target based on contribution, company performance, and/or individual results achieved; the specific incentive plan and target amount will be determined based on the role and breadth of contributions.
