EXEMPT/NON-EXEMPT EMPLOYEE STATUS: Exempt (Minimum 37.5 hours/week)

GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) is an international society that has gained recognition as one of the world's premier spine societies. The SRS has maintained a commitment to research and education in the field of spinal conditions. Strict membership criteria ensure that the individual Fellows (Members) support that commitment. Current membership includes more than 1,650 of the world's leading spine surgeons (orthopaedic and neurological), researchers, physician assistants and orthotists who are involved in research and treatment of spinal conditions.

Under the direction of the Senior Communication Manager, this position provides management of the SRS website and SRS Learning Management System (BrightSpace by D2L) to facilitate and maintain the mission of SRS.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (Minimum of 37.5 hours/week):
  • Oversees the SRS website, maintaining up-to-date information and content, and ensure it is presented in a clear, visually appealing format.
  • Work with SRS staff to implement SRS website content and changes related to their assigned duties.
  • Manage the building, maintenance, and oversight of all offerings within the SRS Learning Management System (BrightSpace by D2L), including, but not limited to the SRS Annual Meeting, IMAST, L.E.A.D SRS, and Society training modules.
  • Development of the meeting app for the SRS Annual Meeting and IMAST, under the direction of the Senior Communication Manager.
  • Work with Web Services or website vendor helpdesk to assess potential technical challenges with web projects and tools that are beyond the manager’s control.
  • Liaise with EDI Web Services (WS) on the integration of programs and applications created by WS and housed on the SRS website (hosted by Northwoods on Titan CMS)
  • Develop and manage website authorship and governance models, with the assistance of association staff and volunteer subject matter experts, to keep information accurate, relevant, timely  and innovative (scientific and non-scientific in nature).
  • Educate staff on content creation and best practices, including tagging, and meaningful keywords.
  • Stay updated on content management systems, web analytics and SEO research software, and other tools that aid the content planning, publication, and reporting processes.
  • Assist Senior Communication Manager in executing the strategic marketing plans for the Society as a whole, as well as individual programs. This could include pulling relevant analytics to show successful growth in traffic and implementing SEO strategies that support marketing goals.
  • Liaise with Research Program Manager and SRS App Developer as needed to develop and maintain SRS Data Collection App reporting capabilities.
  • Serve as staff liaison to SRS Website Committee and provide administrative support as appropriate.
  • Work with internal departments (IS, TS, CS, Mail, Accounting, etc.) as needed for SRS projects.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

AMOUNT OF TRAVEL REQUIRED (total weeks per year):
One to two weeks per year, including international. Some weekend and evening work may be required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Demonstrated experience managing website content through a content management system (CMS) desired; familiarity with Wordpress or Titan CMS a plus. Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) preferred. Experience with MySQL a plus. Experience with Google Analytics 4 is a plus. Experience in working with associations preferred. Excellent organizational skills, good problem solving and critical thinking skills a must. Ability to work independently but as part of a small, strong team. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to move freely around annual meeting site, tolerance for occasional long hours, some packaging and lifting up to 50 pounds.
 
*This position is located in downtown Milwaukee, WI and a minimum of two days onsite in the office (including Wednesday as an all-staff-in-office day) are a requirement of the role.
