About the Role


We are seeking an Operations Manager who will provide the full spectrum of operational support to a 50-person 100% virtual environmental consulting company. The Operations Manager is a critical strategic position for a professional with strong business knowledge, outstanding operational skills, with good interpersonal and communications skills, and who will engage and energize a distributed, diverse, and dynamic team. This position reports to the General Manager and is a senior leader in the company.


This is a fully remote role from Atlanta, GA or any U.S. location.


Responsibilities

  • Live by and supports the Tanaq Core Values of Purpose-driven environmental work, Safety, Engaging Culture, Trust and Respect, Transparency, and Agility.
  • Define and drive the operating rhythm for the business including but not limited to recurring company meetings, reports, tracking non-project deliverables, and driving execution of initiatives (cadence, content, and logistics).
  • Oversee the day-to-day needs of a growing environmental consulting business so our non-project related processes flow smoothly and don't impact the scope, schedule, and budget of current contracts.
  • As a critical part of the Tanaq Environmental leadership team, reports directly to the general manager and, with the other program managers, takes a broader look at the entire business line to assist in developing budgets, strategic goals, and long-term growth strategies.
  • Coordinate, plan, and help facilitate strategic and functional meetings such as All-Hands, annual strategic reviews, quarterly project update briefings, and other relevant events.
  • Ensure company and corporate resources (marketing, business development and administrative) and office supplies are available for the company to function seamlessly.
  • Create and maintain reports to track various business metrics: project revenue, staff utilization, year-end expense reports, etc.
  • Assist corporate HR with new hire onboarding, and departing employee offboarding processes.
  • In coordination with corporate staff, oversee and maintain legal, insurance, and other essential company-specific documents, policies, and procedures.
  • Identify and improve internal tools, processes, and operational issues (workload leveling, project/budget management software/processes, etc.) utilizing a proactive approach.
  • Support corporate HR efforts, including recruiting, employee engagement and satisfaction efforts, and operational training needs.
  • Drive adoption of various corporate initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion and collaboration through virtual activities.
  • Support corporate branding efforts by disseminating consistent marketing materials throughout the Environmental Business Line and ensuring that all staff are aware of and have access to the current document and presentation templates, letterhead, logos, business cards, and other promotional materials.
Requirements


Required Experience and Skills

  • 8 years of proven success in operations/project/program management role, working knowledge of the MS suite of products, Unanet, and Monday.com.
  • Strong analytical thinker that communicates effectively and executes responsibilities/multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Experience creating budgets and forecasts and a familiarity with business and financial principles.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work in order to meet or exceed goals and deadlines while maintaining a strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize work to meet and exceed goals.
  • Able to build and maintain relationships with corporate staff, company leadership, and staff to spearhead continuous development of the company's operational structure and keep pace with company growth.
  • Collaborative and open style with a constructive and positive attitude.
  • Experience with federal contracting preferred.


Education and Training

  • Master's degree preferred in an environmental-related field (science, chemistry, engineering, geology) or business-related field (accounting, finance, management, administration) plus 8 years of professional experience, or 10 years of experience in business operations and leadership.

Physical Requirements

  • Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Occasional walking or standing, occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
