The API Lead Applications Developer will provide leadership on integration and drive complex project implementations. The ideal candidate will have a keen understanding of how-to mentor developers and extract business value from integration, while safeguarding the security and stability of their platforms.

Product Strategy and Roadmap Developments

    Work closely with business leaders and internal partners to define API vision, strategy and architecture.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive product roadmap that aligns with business objectives and industry trends.
  • Work closely with stakeholders and internal team members to gather product requirements, including prioritization of features and enhancements based on the business need, business impact, technical feasibility, and budget.

Technology Development, Governance and Execution:

  • Lead the product development process by creating detailed product specifications, collaborating with internal partners to ensure timely delivery of high-quality API solutions that meet the defined requirements.
  • Overseeing support activities in conjunction with infrastructure and operations to ensure the APIs perform well in production.
  • Measure benefits realization to ensure that business outcomes are achieved.
  • Maintain ownership of the API roadmap, including near term prioritization of features and longer-term capabilities to meet future business needs.
  • Work with the information security team to ensure that the organization's applications are effectively secured and that risks are mitigated.
  • Define and enhance methodologies and practices for life cycle management in line with best practice and practical experience of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that technology processes (including those of external service providers) are conducted in line with corporate social responsibility, environmental and technical policies and applicable standards and legislation.

Market Research and Competitive Analysis

  • Conduct thorough market research and competitive analysis to identify emerging trends, opportunities, and potential areas for innovation. Leverage this knowledge to inform API architecture and solutions to stay ahead of the competition.
  • Plan and execute product launches in coordination with internal partners (e.g., marketing, sales, client support teams, etc.) In partnership with the business, develop strategies to drive product adoption and growth.

Leadership

  • Provide leadership, vision, and mentoring to the applications organization to ensure it will contribute to the company achieving its goals.
  • Hold delivery team accountable for optimizing the cost, risk and value throughout their life cycle.
  • Work with the line of business CIO and other IT leaders to develop the API strategy and architecture in the context of the business strategy.
  • Be a problem solver that can work autonomously to make decisions, including leading discussions to achieve cross functional consensus.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 7+ years directly related, progressively responsible work experience with emphasis on APIs.
  • MuleSoft experience and current MuleSoft certifications strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and launching successful solutions with a client-first mindset.
  • Experience leading development teams that have dependencies on internal and partner/vendor development teams
  • Strong project management skills.
