Overview

Oak Grove Technologies has an opening in Artesia, NM for an experienced Audio/Visual Technician. The Audio/Visual Technician is responsible for the continuous coverage and maintenance of audio/visual equipment, providing support for special events, and ensuring the smooth operation of audio/visual services. This role involves troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, performing equipment maintenance, assisting with classroom setup as needed, and assisting with photography and digital recording during special events.

Responsibilities
    Equipment Maintenance and Repair:
    • Inspect, test, maintain, and repair audio/visual equipment, including projectors, tape recorders, public address systems, and more.
    • Coordinate corrective maintenance for electrical/electronic equipment and system failures, ensuring repair or replacement within 48 hours.
    • Operate and visually examine equipment to identify malfunctions and disassemble equipment to locate defective parts.
    • Test exciter lamps, projector lamps, fuses, sound drums, and power circuits.
    • Maintain inventory records of audio/visual equipment and assist in the annual property inventory report.
  • Audio/Visual Program Management:
    • Plan and administer audio/visual programs, including assisting patrons in material selection and advising Government personnel on appropriate materials.
    • Evaluate audio/visual materials for technical, informational, and aesthetic qualities and select materials for library collections.
    • Prepare summaries of acquisitions for cataloging and arrange audio/visual programs for group presentations.
  • Troubleshooting and Technical Support:
    • Address technical issues related to audio/visual equipment, monitors, amplifiers, and computers.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues such as monitor problems, sound issues, computer malfunctions, and network problems.
    • Coordinate with IT support as necessary for account lockouts and software issues.
    • Perform maintenance and repairs on company computers, monitors, printers, and networking equipment.
  • End-of-Month (EOM) Classroom Inspection:
    • Conduct monthly classroom inspections on the 25th of every month.
    • Physically inspect each classroom, checking all AV equipment, audio, amps, TVs, monitors, and projector bulbs.
    • Document equipment condition and any issues encountered during testing.
    • Report maintenance issues such as broken tiles, leaks, and non-working lights to facility maintenance.
  • Photography Documentation:
    • Film special events as requested by the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR), including an estimated five two-hour sessions and two eight-hour sessions per year.
    • Photograph events as required, following specific instructions.
    • Handle camera setup and ensure timely photo capture.
    • Manage photo storage and organization, including editing, cropping, and saving in designated folders.
    • Maintain templates for photo editing and ensure accurate dates and information.
    • Collaborate with Education Aids to finalize and print approved photos for documentation.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
  • Prior experience in audio/visual equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of photography and digital recording is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to lift and transport audio/visual equipment.
  • Willingness to work on weekends and Federal Holidays as required.
