Description/Job Summary


Ensures manufactured products comply with or exceed the established company standards and customer specifications.

Responsibilities/Duties
  • Directly supports the production teams through, Start-Up Verification, Real Time in Process Evaluations, as well as regular production and site quality inspections in the interest of Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and Production Support.
  • Actively participate in regulatory activities including ISO, SQF, and supporting actions.
  • Actively participate in Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis, Process Mapping providing direct contributions to Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Actively participate in Continuous Improvement Events and Initiatives.
  • Performs physical, mechanical, and analytical tests on materials as per testing criteria to ensure standards are met.
  • Discuss and escalate all areas of non-conformance to specification with the Operations Manager, Supervisor, or team Lead and Quality Manager to implement corrective action and follow up as needed.
  • Update, maintain and enter test results in QC database, daily batch reports, inspection reports, daily downtime reports and other reports as requested.
  • Maintain all "quality related" documents (i.e. test results etc.) in the laboratory.
  • Create SOPs, review and revise as needed.
  • Prepare Quality Management related forms as required.
  • Perform monthly GMP inspections, and participate in internal audit, mock recalls, process improvement projects, QC Holds and create reports accordingly.
  • Maintain calibration records of all testing equipment in lab and on production floor.
  • Provide support during customer plant tour by demonstrating testing methods and communicating quality related procedures effectively.
  • Conduct/Assist refresher trainings for various departments as requested.
  • Investigate customer complaints and returns. Address findings to Quality manager.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, safety, and other standards.
  • Understand and comply with all IEF SQF (HACCP) standards and GMP policies.
  • Maintain proper General Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred Skills
  • Proficient computer skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and word processing software
  • Knowledge of General Manufacture Practices.
  • Capable of working with minimum Supervision.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and team skills.
  • Experience in SQF and or ISO an asset.

Preferred Experience
  • 2 years related work experience preferably in plastic manufacturing industry.
  • Experience with ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) testing methods an asset.
  • Knowledge of extrusion process is an asset.
Required Education
  • Post-Secondary Diploma in a science related program.
