Summary:

The RN-Clinical Research Nurse in Lewis Katz School of Medicine' s Surgery (TMS) Department will be responsible for the day-to-day activities surrounding clinical research studies, and will ensure compliance with federal, state and university regulations. The incumbent will work with investigators on multiple active protocols and will interact closely with the sponsors from qualification visits to close-out visits.

Essential Functions:

* Planning, implementation, and execution of Clinical Trials in the Department of Surgery

* Coordinating study enrollment, establishing, or maintaining databases of subjects, protocol treatment and follow-up care for subjects participating in clinical trials

* Assuring that the Clinical Trial study Protocols are followed.

* Assessing subjects on study for complications related to therapy/treatment.

* Communicating observations/findings to attending physicians, investigators and in medical records as required

* Communicating routinely with sponsoring organizations and conduct monitoring visits in collaboration with sponsoring trial organizations.

* Maintaining study protocols, updates, amendments and communicate these to, and as required by, the Institutional Review Board (IRB).

* Under the supervision of the Department of Surgery Research Administrator, the Research Nurse will conduct Clinical Trials in adherence with FDA, IRB, Pennsylvania, and related regulations.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

Professional licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of PA. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Education and Experience:

BSN preferred. Critical Care/ICU experience and at least one year of research experience.

* Ability to work independently and as a team member

* Analytical skills and ability to resolve problems

* Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

* Working knowledge of various computer applications

* Excellent oral and written communication skills

* Ability to work with and adapt to new technology.

* Excellent customer service skills that allows for effective interaction with study participants, patients, students, faculty and staff.

* Skilled in computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Power Point Excel.

* Excellent Organizational Skills with the ability to prioritize and complete detailed assignments in a timely manner.

* Experience with electronic health records.

* Ability to travel to other off-site clinical sites occasionally.

* Ability to work overtime, some weekends and early mornings as needed.

This position requires a background check.

This position requires Child Abuse Certifications prior to the commencement of service.

This is a grant funded position.
