Finishing Technician - 2nd Shift

Who we are looking for:

We are currently searching for a Finishing Technician to fill the role in Harvey, IL. The job will be 2nd shift, (3pm-11pm) M-F, occasional Saturdays. Reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor, the Finishing Technician will be responsible to set up and operate the Roll Groove, Kwik-Fit, all Brush Deburrs, Wrappers and Automatic Banders.

The ideal candidate will have 3 years' experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, processing steel. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

What you'll do:

  • Maintain a clean, safe and efficient workplace by following 5S, Standard Work and wearing all required PPE
  • Set up and operate the Roll Groove, Kwik-Fit, all Brush Deburrs, Wrappers and Automatic Banders
  • Load and unload lines
  • Operate the machines to produce quality product by closely monitoring each component of the machine
  • Change/clean tooling as required to get good quality product within specs
  • Operate the machines and monitor the process to ensure production of acceptable end finishing, proper blemish free coating, length and ID/OD surface quality per specification
  • Notify Finishing Supervisor, QC Supervisor and Mill Cut Off Operator when defective material is being delivered to the machine
  • Maintain equipment and perform routine maintenance such as greasing, minor adjustments, etc
  • Adjust oven temperatures as required
  • Properly complete production and downtime documentation
  • Apply cardboard, plastic packaging, banding and end spray where required

What you'll bring:

  • Experience in industrial manufacturing.
  • RF Scanning experience.
  • Strong sense of time organization and sense of urgency, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to pass the post offer employment process with drug screen.

Within 3 months, you'll:

  • Show progress and/or complete job specific training
  • Be well-versed in Atkore's Business System and the importance of your role to daily operations
  • Gain a basic understanding of required duties and job expectations.
