The Berkeley Lab's Engineering Division is hiring a Semiconductor Equipment Engineer. This Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) Engineering Division has an immediate opening for a Semiconductor Equipment Engineer to join the team.
You will work closely with some of the world's finest interdisciplinary scientists and engineers and apply your engineering skills at Berkeley Lab to help bring science solutions to the world. At Berkeley Lab, you'll make an impact on some of the world's most exciting scientific experiments and instruments.
The Microsystems Laboratory (MSL) is a semiconductor processing facility specializing in the fabrication of various types of radiation detectors and integrated electronics on high resistivity silicon. The facility consists of 700 sq. ft. of Class 10 clean room space with environmental control of +/-1 F and +/- 2% relative humidity. Process capabilities include high temperature oxidation, deposition of thin films, and diffusion of impurity dopants, dry plasma etching, wet chemical etching and cleaning operations, and photolithography.
The Semiconductor Sensors, Detectors, and Solid-State Imagers developed and fabricated at the LBNL Microsystems Laboratory continue to make key contributions to large-scale international science experiments across all scales of inquiry with a particular competence in high-resistivity, fully depleted CCD imagers, such as those used in the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument, a telescope that is making a 3D map of the universe.
In this exciting role, reporting to the Microsystems Laboratory Group Head, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Microsystems Lab to include on-going maintenance, quality control and improvement of equipment and processes. In addition, the successful candidate will investigate, create and develop new methods and techniques for project advancement and use professional concepts in accordance with Lab objectives to solve complex problems in creative and effective ways.
