THE POSITION

PennDOT District 3 is looking for a skilled individual to take on the role of Civil Engineer Manager in the traffic engineering department. In this position, you will plan, organize, and direct all activities of the district's traffic engineering functions. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As district traffic engineer, you will oversee district traffic control programs to include work zone traffic control, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), traffic lighting and signals, incident and congestion management, pavement markings, signing, and line painting. You will develop strategies to reduce traffic congestion, promote ITS, increase the number and use of safety enhancements and highway safety improvement projects, and reduce accidents, especially in the work zones. In addition, you will also direct and review studies and investigations pertaining to traffic signals, signing, speed limits, traffic line markings, accidents, permits, and traffic control work areas.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is eligible for an Alternate Work Schedule (AWS).
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 6 days per pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Montoursville.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of professional civil engineering experience which includes three years in the appropriate specialty and one year of experience in directing the work of civil engineers.

Special Requirement:
  • This position requires possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.

Post Employment Requirement:

  • For the Bridges and Transportation parentheticals, successful candidates with an out of state Professional Engineer license will be required to produce a valid Professional Engineer License issued by Pennsylvania within their initial six-month probationary period.


Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
