As an Installation Police Officer, DMVA, you are a sworn police officer and exercises the power of arrest. Duties include patrolling federal and state-owned buildings and grounds; and enforcing federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations through warnings, citations, or arrests. You investigate vehicle accidents involving persons or property; criminal activity, suspected activity, or reported crimes, and reports findings; and unusual incidents, fires, or other hazards.
Work is performed independently within operating policies and involves situations that may be dangerous or stressful in nature. Detailed instructions are contained in the Standard Operating Procedures. The Police Chief provides special written and verbal instructions and issues these instructions on an as needed basis.
