Job Description

Work Location Black Stallion Estate Winery

Position Purpose

The Steward at Black Stallion Estate Winery is a cross- departmental support position. The Steward shall assist the Chef in tasks such as light food prep, dishwashing, deep cleaning, taking out trash, etc. This role will also support Hospitality and Tasting Room Teams by taking care of dishes, deep cleaning, set up, break down, and polishing glasses.

Functional Responsibility
Essential Duties
  • Assists Chef in light food prep such as slicing, portioning, and other light kitchen tasks
  • Helps Chef during the preparation and execution of day-to-day operations, as well as events
  • Executes deep cleaning projects of the winery spaces as directed by Chef
  • Maintains the trash program by taking out trash and making sure receptacles are clean
  • Assists Hospitality Team by setting up and breaking down events
  • Assists Tasting Room Team by setting up and bussing the Tasting Room spaces

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma orGED equivalent
  • Prior kitchen experience preferred

Certificates and Licenses

  • Current Food Handler Card

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Basic English speaking and reading skills desired
  • Knowledge of safe food handling, preparation procedures, and precautionary procedures of chemicals, detergents, and sanitizers
  • Ability to differentiate the proper application of tools and/or chemicals to all equipment
Working Conditions
  • General restaurant environment
  • Indoor and outdoor environment with exposure to the elements/temperature variations
  • Exposure to weather-related temperature & humidity extremes
  • Required to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
  • Work in close quarters or confined spaces
  • Exposure to varying levels of dust, chemicals, fumes, gases, and noisy equipment

California Pay Transparency Disclaimer: This is a Non-Exempt position. The pay range for this position is $16.00 to $23.03. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, internal equity and alignment with market data.
