Community Options has a unique opening in the Compliance-Training division within the Residential Services department as a Developmental Disabilities (DD) Training Specialist. This position is responsible for the development and implementation of training curriculum that meet state and federal Developmental Disabilities compliance regulations. The role works to identify training objectives by developing strategies, action plans and instructional materials necessary to achieve objectives. The primary goal of this position is to ensure consistent and high-quality training is provided to increase performance of employees and units being served. This is a fun role that has a lot of room for creativity and innovation!!

The hourly wage for this position is $20 - $24 an hour depending on experience (DOE).

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED), plus two (2) years' experience working directly with persons with intellectual disabilities or other developmental disabilities. Preference with be given to incumbents with a Developmental Disability Certification from an accredited institution and/or a current First Aid and CPR Instructor certification.
  • A valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance for the vehicle subject to the statute of the licensing state and the ability to travel based on operational and clientele needs, this may include travel to outer, surrounding regions as assigned
  • Successfully pass a criminal background check, to include Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), drug screening, and ND Department of Human Service (DHS) pre-employment approval
  • Required to successfully complete required training and/or certification within specified time frame; time requirements will vary based on assigned training or certification programs.

Essential Skills and Experience:

Must occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Employees may be subject to working with customers that exhibit behaviors that would require the employee to use possible physical de-escalation techniques.
  • Work Environment: Employees work in indoor and/or outdoor environments, i.e., office, home, or community setting. Employees are required to operate a motor vehicle and travel as deemed necessary. Assigned work shifts and locations will vary depending on the customers' and/ or agency needs.
