Carnegie Mellon University's School of Art is searching for an MFA Program Assistant Director to join us as the lead staff member for our graduate program. The position reports to the Head of School and works directly with MFA program Director on all aspects of the program's organizational, administrative, curricular, communal, and facility-based needs.
The MFA Program Assistant Director will help maintain and supervise the day-to-day functions of the program while helming keys efforts, including the admissions process, guest artist visits, budget oversight, the weekly schedule of activities and studio visits, and more. The MFA Program Assistant Director is a leadership role and will contribute to the graduate program by providing oversight and support towards its structural and organizational goals, while serving as a resource to students, faculty, business managers, department heads and other college or central staff student service departments.

Graduate students are encouraged to employ a comparative and intersectional approach to critical and cultural theories, and to allow this inquiry to inform and expand what it means to be an artist and to make art within our contemporary condition.
With four core faculty members committed to a cohort of 18 graduate students, and an additional 18 tenure and tenure-track professors within the school, the MFA program fosters intensive intellectual relationships with each of our Masters candidates. The Program is housed in a new, significantly expanded facility.
