Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Department of Athletics exists to provide educational and athletic opportunities to young men and women, to provide an environment for student-athletes to learn, advance and excel both academically and athletically, and to serve the interests of the University by complimenting and enhancing its diversity and quality of life. Through its athletic programs, the University seeks to unite alumni, faculty, administration and students in a common shared experience. The governing unit within the Department of Athletics is the Director's Office, which is the administrative office and clearinghouse for the entire Department of Athletics, and promotes the department's guiding principle of educating and inspiring through athletics. This unit provides support to administrators, coaches, staff members and student-athletes in order to provide and promote a premier intercollegiate athletic program for The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Department of Athletics is a highly visible public relations arm of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with statewide, national and international recognition.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Head Coach for UNC Softball the primary responsibility of this position is to provide detailed qualitative and quantitative performance analysis for individual athletes and the team as a whole through film, visual and statistical evaluation; capture, code and catalogue /archive softball games and practice for use in team briefings. Responsibilities also include preparing pre-game video scout reports and providing post-game video debriefs to assist coaching staff in practice design and game preparation and creating reports on various aspects of performance for program planning.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Minimum of a bachelor's degree required (or foreign degree equivalent) with at least 1 year of experience in relevant independent instructional or educational activities; specific minimum experience is at the discretion of the Director of Athletics.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience and working knowledge of an intercollegiate Softball environment. Familiarity with softball film review and systems. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of standard Microsoft Office software. Technical softball knowledge and basic knowledge of the evaluation process and effective organizational and interpersonal communications skills is required. Candidates must demonstrate integrity, leadership, a strong commitment and ability to motivate, teach, counsel, and recruit. Encourage and promote excellence in academics, athletics, and life-skills to student athletes. Abide by all UNC, ACC, and NCAA regulations.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Prefer prior intercollegiate Softball playing or Coaching experience.
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Must be able to lift/move 25 lbs or greater. May be required to navigate stairs. Must be able to manage a fast-paced, high volume work environment. Attention to detail essential. Ability to work nights, evenings and weekends as required. May be exposed to extreme weather conditions. Travel required.
