Job/Internship Description

Provides basic support to the staff on various administrative, project oriented, and daily hotline contacts.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:Provides the Crisis Hotline team support under the guidance of an assigned supervisor/lead and participates in related project, reporting, and administrative work as assigned.
  • Trains with the Crisis Counselor team to learn basic principals of the Boys Town crisis inbound contact responses. Contacts can be verbal and written (e.g., telephone, email, chat, text, etc.).
  • Assists with identifying, building, and data checking the internal database of local service providers, to help with client referrals as needed.
  • Assists with documenting details and information given within the course of contacts.
  • Helps compile data and reports as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office, or other related programs, and web-based or other electronic communication formats.
  • Ability to communicate verbally in an articulate, professional manner while maintaining necessary degree of confidentiality and appropriate content.
  • Ability to communicate in writing in an articulate, professional manner via email, chat, text, and other forms of web-based or other electronic communication formats, utilizing proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation while maintaining necessary degree of confidentiality and appropriate content.
  • Willingness and desire to learn more about the Boys Town model, counseling, or a related field relevant to the organization.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Currently enrolled in a program to obtain a degree in Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Counseling, Public Affairs, or a related area is preferred.
  • Previous work experience in a relevant field is preferred.
