Job Summary

Applications are invited for a project coordinator to work on urban health and community engagement research in Philadelphia, PA.

The Department of Community Health and Prevention at the Dornsife School of Public Health is seeking a project coordinator interested in the social determinants of health, places and health, and urban health more broadly, including applying community-based participatory research approaches to urban health inequities.

With approximately 50% of their time, the project coordinator will work with several large studies in West Philadelphia, assisting with partnership development, data collection, analysis, and report and paper writing to support research and evaluation activities and contribute to scientific literature related to place-based initiative evaluation and community-led systems change. These initiatives include the US Department of Housing and Urban Development-designated West Philadelphia Promise Zone, the US Department of Education-funded West Philly Promise Neighborhood initiative, the US Department of Justice-funded Byrne Criminal Justice Initiative, and the many community partnerships who support them. The goal of each of these initiatives is to improve the health, safety, economic development, and/or educational outcomes of children, adults, families, and communities in West Philadelphia by creating/enhancing place-based systems of support for community residents. The project coordinator will also work with the ComPASS program, an NIH-funded initiative focused on community-led structural interventions throughout the United States. Drexel leads the national coordination center, which supports the community grantees in their planning, implementation, and evaluation of their structural interventions in their local communities. The project coordinator will help with training development, website content, dissemination of community grantee successes and structural intervention best practices, and other tasks as needed.

With the other half of the project coordinator's time, they will provide project coordination for the Evaluating the Public Heath Cedar project. The goal of this project is to collect pilot data to begin the community-engaged evaluation of this place-based, co-location model of healthcare services with public health programs. Results will establish a baseline and also help to further refine the ongoing evaluation design for this innovative model. The Drexel team is leading the patient data and community indicators components of the evaluation plan, as well as supporting PHMC in their lead of the community survey and stakeholder key informant interviews.
