Job Summary:
THE PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY OF THE SURVIVOR ADVOCATE IS TO PROVIDE CONFIDENTIAL CASE MANAGEMENT, ADVOCACY, AND CRISIS INTERVENTON TO STUDENTS WHO EXPERIENCE ANY FORM OF SEXUAL OR RELATIONSHIP
VIOLENCE. THIS WOULD INCLUDE MONITORING AN EMERGENCY PHONE OUTSIDE OF BUSINESS HOURS AND ACCOMPANYING VICTIM-SURVIVORS TO HOSPITAL, POLICE, COURT, AND/OR RELEVANT UNIVERSITY OFFICES.
ADDITIONALLY, REGULAR MEETINGS AND REPORTING TO THE DIRECT SUPERVISOR TO ENSURE COMPREHENSIVE SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS IS EXPECTED. THIS POSITION WILL PROVIDE SUPPORT WITHIN THE INTERPERSONAL VIOLENCE PREVENTION AND ADVOCACY OFFICE IN THE DIVISION OF STUDENT AFFAIRS. THE SURVIVOR ADVOCATE WILL WORK
COLLABORATIVELY WITH FELLOW STAFF IN THE DIVISION AND OTHER RELATED CAMPUS OFFICES.

THIS POSITION WILL BE FOR 10 MONTHS (AUGUST-MAY) NOT TO EXCEED 20 HOURS PER WEEK.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS / DIRECT REPORTS: THE SURVIVOR ADVOCATE REPORTS TO THE ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF INTERPERSONAL VIOLENCE PREVENTION AND ADVOCACY OFFICE.

Job Duties:
  • After Hours Crisis Intervention ( Monitoring of Phone/Chat).
  • Direct Advocacy/Support of Student Victim Survivors.
  • Case Management/Referrals.
  • Reporting/Recordkeeping.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WORK SETTING:

The work setting will be hybrid.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Public Health, Social Work/Counseling, or
other relevant academic field.

Knowledge Areas and Skills: Demonstrated experience and/or knowledge of working with
college students. Additionally, must be able to work independently, communicate
effectively and work evenings and weekends as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master's degree in Higher Education, Public Health, Social Work, or other relevant
professional field.

Professional Work Experience: 1-3 years experience in a relevant field.

Professional Certification or License: State or nationally recognized training in victim advocacy.
Knowledge Areas and Skills: Demonstrated experience and/or knowledge of working with
underserved communities, including but not limited to students of color, LGBTQ students,
international students, and students with intersecting identities. Knowledgeable of Clery Act, Title IX,
and Campus SaVE Act, particularly as it relates to services for victim-survivors. Familiarity with
local and national resources for victim-survivors of interpersonal violence.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE POSITION:
Due to nature of the work and part-time status of the role, the selected candidate must have flexibility in
their work schedule.

21.00-25.00

The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.

This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship at this time, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US at the time of submission of the application.
