Physical Security Enablement Senior Analyst

Job Summary: As a Physical Security Enablement Senior Analyst, you'll leverage your experience to spearhead security enablement projects. You'll serve as a technical security expert, providing service-related support across the AMER region. Your business security expertise will be crucial in devising innovative methods and processes for complex Data Center security issues. Moreover, you'll play a pivotal role in leading the AMER security risk identification and management program in collaboration with various business units within Equinix.

The ideal candidate for this position will play a crucial role in the support of our security operations. They should be ready and capable of working across various disciplines and levels, from technology research and contract guarding support to emerging threats and risk management. They will be involved in physical security-related training and implementation and will be a key player in supporting emergencies and incidents throughout their lifespan. A deep understanding of security technology, creativity, strong organizational skills, and a proven track record of delivering results on time and within budget are essential for this impactful role.

Responsibilities

Data Center Enablement

  • Champions key performance indicator goals at a regional level and supports Security Operations teams.
  • May assist with the department budget and with setting Data Center physical security budgets.
  • Manages security vendors to support guarding, hardware installation, upgrades, configurations, repair and maintenance.

Systems

  • Support the continued development of security monitoring designed to deter, detect, delay, and respond to security events and incidents.
  • Provide physical security system support across AMER Equinix data center locations.
  • You will work cross-functionally to implement changes across all data centers, fostering a sense of teamwork and collaboration, to achieve and maintain a consistent physical security program.
  • Contributes and maintains alignment with global, national, and regional stakeholders in relation to security systems, risks, policy, procedure, strategic direction, and future business objectives.
  • Supports Operational security functions and business process system solutions, including enhancements to and maintenance of specification standards, and exception handling.
  • Provide recommendations for improvement based on emerging threats and research including new tools, processes, and technologies.
  • Contributes to collection, analysis, and reporting to management on operational security metrics.
  • Provide process and system guidance to Operations teams that install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain the organization's security systems.
  • Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems, including lifecycle analysis.
  • Recommends alterations to design, development, implementation, and analysis to improve the quality of products, new technologies, and/or procedures.

Risk and Emergency Management

  • Provides support to complex or significant emergency situations, including root cause analysis and program improvement recommendations.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to develop and deliver security awareness training and communications.
  • Conduct physical security site risk assessments, providing technical assistance to Operations teams ensuring proper documentation of identified risks as well as mitigation measures.
  • Experience drafting written risk assessment finding reports and providing guidance on budgetary requirements for proper mitigation.

Processes and Procedures

  • Manages physical security and business continuity process and procedure rollouts for sites/countries within a complex scope.
  • Provides feedback and leads process and procedure improvement and efficiency projects.
  • Uses wide-ranged experience in managing cross-functional policy and process rollouts.
  • Determines methods and procedures for continuous improvement, supports implementation of changes, and assists with process and maintenance adherence.

Project Management

  • Strong project management skills are essential for thriving in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must demonstrate expertise in efficiently prioritizing tasks and collaborating effectively across organizational boundaries.
  • Manages security directs and sub-directs who coordinate the completion of security projects and deadlines, assign responsibilities, and monitor the progress of complex projects.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver engaging presentations and communicate information to diverse audiences.
  • Manages multiple tasks within cross-functional project teams, testing new functionality and deploying features in production.
  • Supports and provides input/guidance on system and platform enhancements, design engineering, and project planning on new and expansion of Data Centers
  • Responsible for the coordination and completion of security projects, setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, monitoring, and summarizing the progress of the project.
  • Facilitates projects by conducting meetings, recording meeting minutes/action items, and performing thorough follow-ups.
  • Research and analyze data to evaluate operational difficulties and make recommendations to solve problems.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Data Center experience preferred.
  • Risk management experience required.
  • Comfortable speaking and presenting in front of large groups.
  • Knowledge of security system installation and operation required.
  • Must be a highly organized, self-motivated, and positive team player with a demonstrated ability to provide effective oversight and systems management, development, and follow-up to prompt closure on security initiatives, plans, and solutions.
  • Requires the ability to perform physical tasks as needed to complete special projects within a Data Center environment, such as site risk assessments, access control, and CCTV system installation surveys, including climbing ladders and bending and stretching during site inspections.
  • Must be able to work independently, make timely decisions, and manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite proficiently.
  • Ability to travel as needed to various Equinix operating sites in the US, Canada, Central, and South America for up to a week at a time based on project needs.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish or Portuguese a plus.

Education / Certifications / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with 3 years experience in physical security or risk management role preferred (or 6 years experience in the aforementioned fields in lieu of a bachelor's degree).
  • Experience with a major security systems manufacturer, preferably AMAG Symmetry, Gallagher, and or Salient CompleteView - certification a plus
  • PSP, CPP, or PMP a plus.
