Responsibilities

PeopleTec is currently seeking a Lethality Engineer (Modeling and Simulation) to support our Huntsville, AL location.

PeopleTec is seeking a highly skilled and motivated modeling and simulation engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. The selected candidate will be a member of our Huntsville lethality test and analysis team and will work on projects involving various Department of Defense and Department of Energy programs, developing, executing, and managing system and component-level analyses. Our team members represent some of the foremost experts in hypervelocity impact testing and post-impact analysis and have the opportunity to work with a wide-ranging group of Customers to develop innovative and creative solutions to address the nation's most pressing challenges.

Duties Include:

    Hydrocode and Hydrostructural Analysis: Perform comprehensive pre-test and post-test hydrocode and hydrostructural analyses of hypervelocity impact events. Update analyses to align with empirical data as required.
  • Test and Analysis Program Support: Provide expert support for a variety of test and analysis programs conducted for the Department of Defense (DOD) and the Department of Energy (DOE).
  • Simulation and Design Support: Offer simulation and analytical support for projectile and target design activities to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.
  • Collaboration and Experiment Design: Collaborate closely with DOD and DOE personnel in designing experiments and developing associated analysis programs.
  • Presentation and Reporting: Effectively communicate results and findings to senior-level government and corporate officials through detailed presentations and reports.
Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Simulation Expertise: A minimum of four years of experience in running and interpreting simulations using advanced hydrocodes and/or hydrostructural codes, such as CTH, ALE3D, Zapotec, Paradyne, and/or Abaqus Explicit.
  • High-Performance Computing (HPC): Proven experience with HPC environments, encompassing job scheduling, resource allocation, and parallel processing for efficient simulation execution.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or MATLAB, with the ability to automate simulations and perform complex data analyses.
  • Hands-On Integration: A keen interest in combining hands-on test execution and hardware preparation with sophisticated modeling and simulation efforts.
  • Impact Lethality Analysis: Experienced in conducting impact lethality analyses and assessments, contributing to the advancement of high-velocity impact studies.
  • Framework Proficiency: Comprehensive understanding of Lagrangian and Eulerian frameworks and their practical applications in shock physics analysis.
  • Travel: up to 10 %
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • An active DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this work. Candidates are required to have an active Secret clearance upon hire, and the ability to maintain this level of clearance during their employment.

Preferred/ Desired Education/ Experience Requirements:

  • Master of Science Degree from an accredited university in a related discipline (engineering, physics, computer science, mathematics) and 4 years or more of professional experience.

    -OR-

    Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited university in a related discipline (engineering, physics, computer science, mathematics) and 6 years or more of professional experience.

  • High-Fidelity Test Analysis: Previous experience in conducting and analyzing high-fidelity ground lethality test events is desired.
  • Published Work: Proven track record as a published author in relevant scientific or technical journals, demonstrating expertise and thought leadership in the field.
