Reporting to the Dean of Health Sciences, this position requires the analysis of complex problems, planning of various interrelated activities, and the coordination of multiple projects or functions. Position requires major decisions involving complex factors that may be difficult to evaluate. It also requires the development of data and ability to compile and interpret data, report results using multi-media resources, and develop recommendations for senior administration that will influence decisions on long-term programs and policies within the department or division.

Essential Duties and Functions:

  • Provides general academic program support to the Health Sciences Department.
  • Assists in the developing, reviewing and analyzing of policies and procedures to reflect the practices of the campus and the institution.
  • Assists in the recruiting, hiring, observing, evaluating, scheduling and, and supervising of adjunct faculty in collaboration with department coordinators and program directors.
  • Assists the Dean with the evaluation of adjunct instructor credentials and keeps a referral file.
  • Develops and supports adjunct faculty development opportunities in coordination with academic support services (including new adjunct orientation).
  • Assists in developing and maintaining the mentoring program for adjunct faculty.
  • Assists and supports the Dean with program evaluation and monitoring programs.
  • Maintains, organizes, evaluates, and manages outcomes assessment plans for the Health Sciences programs.
  • Participates in strategic planning initiatives (SPOL) including student retention activities.
  • Acts as academic administrator during the evening and weekend hours as needed.
  • Assists the Dean and the Provost with institutional, program, and campus based projects.
  • Assists with establishing relationships with community members, clinical sites, students, and other stakeholders.
  • Assists in the accreditation processes for programs in Health Sciences.
Required Skills

  • Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing with a variety of constituents of considerable importance within and outside of the college.
  • Ability to work independently with the responsibility for planning details and methods to obtain definite objectives and to make decisions within broad limitations of policy and professional standards.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with college personnel.
  • Knowledge of accreditation, self-study, and audit processes.
  • Advances knowledge of one or more areas of health sciences.

Working Conditions/Additional Information

  • This position is a full-time on-campus position located at our Winter Haven campus, but will travel to event locations as necessary. (Remote/hybrid options are not available.)
  • Weekend and evening work may be required.
  • Position may be required to work during College closures (such as winter/spring break and inclement weather closures).
  • Reliable transportation is required for travel to campuses, centers, and clinical sites. Possession of a valid Florida's Driver's License is required (or must be eligible to obtain a Florida's license within 30 days).
  • This position will require the ability to lift at least 20 lbs.

Salary and Benefits Information

  • This position is a level P17. Please see below for specific salary range.

Requirements

For the purposes of educational and experience requirements, the eligible Health Sciences division program are:

  • Cardiovascular Technology (CVT)
  • Diagnostic Medical Sonography
  • Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
  • Medical Coding Specialist
  • Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA)
  • Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA)
  • Radiography
  • Respiratory Care

Required Education

  • Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with a Master's degree in a discipline within our Health Sciences division or a Higher Education Administration-related field.
  • Current State/National certification(s) in good standing in one of our Health Sciences division programs.

Preferred Education

Doctorate degree preferred in Educational Leadership, Higher Education Administration, or a discipline within our Health Sciences division.

Required Experience
  • Minimum three years' experience in a healthcare discipline taught within our Health Sciences division.
  • Minimum two years' college-level teaching experience in a discipline within our Health Sciences division.
  • Minimum two years' Health Science leadership experience in the role of department chair, program director, or other leadership position with oversight in a discipline within our Health Sciences division.

Preferred Experience

  • Five years teaching and leadership experience in higher education is preferred.
  • Full-time teaching experience is preferred.
