The school has prepared almost 12,000 graduates to lead fulfilling and productive lives and is expanding to serve more students.

MHS is currently seeking a Deputy General Counsel (DGC) to act as the General Counsel's key delegate on legal matters of high importance. The DGC is responsible for overseeing, planning, organizing, and directing legal staff, as well as coordinating outside counsel work as it pertains to all high-level legal matters. This includes matters pertaining to MHS's subsidiary, Catherine Hershey Schools for Early Learning (CHS), and MHS's Board of Manager related issues. The DGC reports to the General Counsel and supervises 1 employee. The DGC also oversees other programs and investigations, and other duties as needed. The DGC has a wide scope of responsibilities including:

* Litigation & Investigations

* Real Estate Acquisition

* Regulatory Compliance

* Chairs the Enterprise Risk Management Committee

* Strategic Initiatives

* General legal advisor

Qualifications
  • J.D. degree and license to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required.
  • 10 plus years of experience as an attorney preferred.
  • Extensive expertise and demonstrated success as a litigator.
  • Experience in real estate acquisition, corporate formation and governance, regulatory compliance (ADA, HIPAA, OSHA, DHS regulations), and enterprise risk management (ERM) experience.
  • Extraordinary skills in multi-tasking, organization, and managing multiple competing priorities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate complex information, lead, advise, collaborate, influence, and negotiate via written and verbal delivery.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and detail orientation. Innovative problem-solver.
  • Prior supervision experience a plus.
  • Comfortable using software including legal applications.
  • Candidates must demonstrate a high degree of integrity, by nature of the work, and all MHS staff are considered role models for students.
  • Candidates should embrace the opportunity to actively engage with students.
  • Candidates must work full-time in the OGC Office, located in Hershey, PA.
