The Opportunity:

As the Director of Segment Solutions at Avantor, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the company's strategic direction. Your responsibilities will include setting a 5-year plan in collaboration with segment leadership, identifying market trends, and understanding customer requirements. You'll define Avantor's offering portfolio, manage product lifecycles, and assess competitive positioning against key rivals. Your ability to communicate effectively, build relationships, and generate sound business strategies will be critical.

What we're looking for

Education: Bachelor's Degree, required

Experience: Minimum 12 years of relevant experience, at least 8 years of leadership responsibility, preferably in field sales, category management, or marketing.

  • Display exceptional strategic selling skills including discovery, ROI development and presentation, sales cycle maintenance, tactical planning and closing; calling on C-suite executives

  • Clearly demonstrated problem-solving capacity and the ability to be timely and responsive

  • History of building positive business relationships across decision levels.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, including white paper and executive-level presentations.

  • Possess strong contract negotiation and contract writing skills

Collaboration Tool: Experience with Microsoft Office products

  • Be a self-starter that exhibits drive, judgement, and influence; is motivated, recognizes opportunities, communicates ideas and acts with little direction in a fluid and matrixed environment.

  • Define VWR/Avantor offering portfolio of products and services: Categories/SKU's, Branded vs. Private Label, pricing architecture, and key brands

  • Develop and manage the portfolio roadmap, covering new product introductions, substitutions, and end-of-life decisions.

  • Build and lead our strategy deliver our strategic portfolio with customers across various markets.

  • Provide input to Supplier Management and keep the sales force informed about portfolio updates. Collaborating with Marketing to create and drive effective promotional campaigns.

  • Willingness to travel to customer locations
