All About You

Under administrative direction, the Assistant Coach is responsible for the development, oversight, and management of all aspects of the game day cheerleading program at Saint Louis University. The Assistant Coach leads the following efforts: recruitment of qualified student-athletes with a commitment to academic success; compliance with NCAA, Atlantic 10, and university rules and regulations; budget management; fundraising activities; community development; and organizing and directing camps and clinics, including mascot appearances.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the daily organization and overall administration of the game day cheerleading program

  • Attends all home men's and women's basketball games

  • Schedules and conducts all practices

  • Responsible for NCAA compliance, A-10 and University compliance

  • Monitors budget and finances for the program

  • Oversees student team members' athletic and academic development

  • Responsible for the recruitment of the cheer squad

  • Works closely with band, dance, and the student group in engaging fans and students in the game day experience

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Prior head coaching experience required

  • Proven ability to work independently, prioritize, and complete tasks in a timely manner

  • Excellent communication skills required for working with diverse groups

  • Strong written communication skills; excellent organizational skills with accuracy and attention to detail

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion handling sensitive matters involving student-athletes

Minimum Qualifications -An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. (Additional requirements may be designated by position.)

Bachelor's degree; supplemented with five (3) years of related experience; previous collegiate coaching and recruiting experience preferred; ability to work non-traditional hours including nights and weekends.
