Overview

E2 is looking for a mid-level Distribution Designer to join our team in our greater Portland or Salt Lake City area to support our major electric utility client. The successful candidate will perform field surveys of existing utility poles and underground vaults, collect data from digital records then apply company, industry, and regulatory standards and specifications to plan the construction, relocation, installation and/or maintenance of facilities and equipment associated with overhead and underground electrical equipment and utility infrastructure. The position will work under the direction of the Team Lead and will report directly to the Department Manager.

Responsibilities
    Conduct field walks in a variety of conditions to gather pertinent infrastructure information.
  • Works with engineering and design team to produce and/or review overhead and underground distribution design packages, including construction drawings, materials inventory (install and removals), voltage drop calculations, environmental/FAA/permitting releases, easements, fielding photos, and notes, distribution planning coordination requests, and GIS maps.
  • Support documentation process for projects including technical specifications, tender documents, technical reports and project calculations and ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical information.
  • Reviews design documents and drawings for accuracy and completeness, addressing any discrepancies or issues identified during the review process.
  • Ensures and maintains compliance with applicable company and client standards and procedures.
  • Provides technical support to junior designers.
  • Participates in special projects or tasks as required.
Qualifications

Required

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering/Technology or similar degree.
  • 4-7 years of experience as a planner/designer working on distribution system projects.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred

  • Minimum three (3) years' experience with distribution design and construction standards for PacifiCorp.
  • Minimum three (3) years' experience performing Pole Loading Analyses.
