Job Description

Under general supervision of UC Center Sacramento executive leadership, provide event coordination and administrative support for a UC system-wide Center and program. Will execute in-person and virtual events and also assist with additional varied events and programs organized within UC Center Sacramento designed to further the mission of the organization and the vision of UC Center Sacramento. Events may be planned for the university and local policy communities for varied groups such as students, scholars, alumni, governmental, diplomatic, and academic leaders.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license, certification and/or educational degree if required of the position.

  • Event planning experience including coordination, implementation, and logistical support.

  • Experience delivering excellent customer service and hospitality in a professional environment.

  • Experience with Windows-based computer environment with Microsoft Office applications, including experience extracting or manipulating data using Word and Excel.

  • Ability to independently coordinate a variety of tasks and functions; work around frequent interruptions; organize workload and set ever-changing priorities.

  • Demonstrated confidence in making strategic decisions, using good judgment, and innovative and creative problem-solving skills.

  • Strong interpersonal internal/external communication skills to communicate effectively and professionally in person, in writing, and on the phone with constituents from diverse cultural backgrounds.

  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, including those from a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of students, faculty, staff, and constituents.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience contracting and working with designers, photographers, caterers, florists, and other vendors to ensure event specifications are met and quality is ensured.

  • Experience working with Outlook and other calendaring systems.

  • Experience reconciling, monitoring, and managing budgets.

  • Knowledge of DEI best practices.

  • Demonstrated understanding of real-time communications.

  • Familiar with Zoom meeting and webinar products.

  • Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, methods of editing and updating web content.

Department Overview

UCCS, part of the UC Davis Office of the Chancellor and Provost, is a UC system wide program that serves undergraduate students and graduate students throughout the academic year and summer.

UCCS advances the University's mission of teaching, research, and public service with an integrated program that provides students with an opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge of California's public policy challenges and processes. The program includes coursework as well as professional experience while living, interning, and attending classes in Sacramento.

In addition to UCCS' academic program, the Center has a robust public knowledge sharing programming that includes holding and hosting several speaker series, multiple day time and evening events, joint collaborations with UC and non-UC entities, workshops, conferences, and more.

Position Information

  • Salary or Pay Range: $25.72/hr. - $46.12/hr.
