With autonomy and sharp decision-making, you'll manage outside counsel on enforcement matters, provide key recommendations to the Global IP & Brand Protection team, and dive deep into research to keep counterfeits and infringements at bay. You'll review product artwork and marketing projects, ensuring it aligns with our Brand Guidelines, and you'll empower our team with your knowledge by creating comprehensive IP-related training materials.

This role offers the flexibility of working a hybrid schedule from home and in our San Diego office.

Responsibilities
    Leads efforts to maintain the Company's records, including accuracy and completeness of the case database, and supervises use of the Matter Management (enforcement) platform for all enforcement work globally.
  • Coordinates brand protection and enforcement activities with the internal legal team and regional business leaders globally, to support brand protection strategy.
  • Acts as primary point of contact for outside counsel and leads efforts to ensure enforcement strategies are adhered to in a timely and cost-effective manner. Provides instructions and allocation of work on matters such as anti-counterfeiting investigations, sweeps, trademark oppositions, cease and desist letters, and customs seizures.
  • Supervises implementation of global online strategy and provides recommendations based on trend analysis and feedback from the Sales, Marketing and Market Distributor teams.
  • Assists in monitoring e-commerce pages and sorting 3P seller issues brought up by Sales teams globally.
  • Provides support for budget planning and management of resources allocated to the work of outside firms and partners collaborating on global brand protection.
  • Creates records and reports that highlight key enforcement data and patterns the purpose of developing tactics to fight infringements and counterfeits.
  • Reviews and approves incoming invoices from vendors.
  • Supports maintenance of the Company's Patent portfolio.
  • Approves product artwork for adherence to Brand Guidelines and general IP requirements.
  • Drafts IP related training materials.
  • Reviews any initial responses to licensing requests from third parties and drafts licensing agreements for Manager's review, according to templates and adherence to Company policies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in intellectual property, legal studies, business law, or another related field. Law degree highly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience working in IP or brand protection.
  • 3+ years of experience working on enforcement of a global IP portfolio.
  • Broad knowledge of IP laws, regulations, and registration requirements, including trademarks, copyrights, domain names, and patents.
  • Experience working directly with and effectively communicating with external and internal legal counsel, law enforcement, and other business partners.
  • Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Has an analytical and planning mindset to strategize for the future based on available information and budget.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams.
