Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE AND SUMMARY

Benefit Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day benefit administration for all company benefits. Working knowledge of IRS, DOL, and ERISA regulations.. Communicate with employees and vendors on all benefits and leave of absence.

MAJOR / KEY JOB DUTIES

Benefit Administration:
* Administer full cycle benefit process (new hire/QLE/QDRO/terms) for medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, Supplemental life, short term disability, long term disability and retirement savings -- in line with current company benefit platform and company policies.
* Run daily and weekly reports to ensure proper eligibility notification is provided to all eligible participants. Approve pending transactions to ensure accuracy of data and benefit set up with ADP Vantage. Ensure accuracy of eligibility data to all company vendors.
* Communicate benefit programs, company policies, and benefit administration to employees and management
* Maintain accurate and complete benefit files for each covered participant
* Create/maintain/analyze appropriate benefit reports and secure corrective measures before payroll processing deadlines
* Respond to agency inquiries
* Assist with internal and external audit process
* Distribute Summary Plan Descriptions, SBC, NOE, SAR and other required distributions
* Assist with Open Enrollment Administration.
* Working knowledge of all benefit related compliance (legislative / process and procedure)
* Union Dues Reporting and funding
Leave Administration:
* Coordination with Administrator by providing required information in regard to FMLA, Non-FMLA leaves, W/C leaves, and Short Term and Long-Term Disability
o Serve as liaison between the company and employee in regard to premiums owed for insurance coverage during the employee's leave of absence.
o Communicate LOA programs, company policies, and benefit administration to employees and management
o Coordinate administration with Risk Management department on all Workers Compensation leaves
* Maintain copies of state disability payments and send third party payments to payroll.
* Respond to agency inquiries
Reporting
* Review reporting from LOA Administrator
* Provide reports to vendors and TPA's
* All other reporting related to Benefits
* Benefit Plan Audits
All other duties as assigned

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* Minimum of five years hands on full cycle human resources and/or benefit and leave administration experience.
* Experienced in ADP Products.
* Degree is a plus, but not required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

* Ability to write correspondence with little or no directions.
* Proofreading and editing skills.
* Excellent oral communication skills

COMPUTER SKILLS:

* Accurately type 50-60 wpm.
* Experienced in ADP products
* Navigate proficiently in a Windows platform.
o Experienced and skilled in moderate to advanced functions of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

REASONING ABILITY:

* Anticipate, identify, analyze and resolve problems in a timely manner.
* Effectively communicate with active and terminated employees on all benefit related matters.
* Interact effectively with all levels in the organization.
