Position Summary

Under general supervision, but in compliance with established policies and procedures, the Innovation Department drives innovation pilots through their lifecycle, facilitates innovation workshops & events for employees and members, researches innovation ideas for strategic alignment with MSUFCU's innovation strategies, and conducts prospect calls with potential partners. This role also communicates pilots to other innovation specialists and pilot team members and presents to pilot stakeholders.

Work Location: Onsite or Hybrid; A combination of working from home/remotely and at MSUFCU Headquarters campus in East Lansing, MI
Work Schedule:
Part-Time 15-25/week; Hours will be scheduled based on student's school schedule and business hours (8:30AM - 5:00PM Monday-Friday)
Paid Hourly Internship -
$16.00+/hour
Duration:
Fall Semester with potential to continue into future semesters

An offer of employment with MSU Federal Credit Union and affiliates is contingent upon the agreed work arrangement (onsite/hybrid/remote) and work location. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in all aspects of the innovation pilot process for proposed opportunities including business case development, due diligence, pilot design, prototype development, testing, communication, documentation of pilot results, and support of the project management process through documentation and reporting of progress.
  • Assist in facilitation of weekly lab sessions for employee innovator teams. Utilize understanding of design thinking, lean start up, and agile development to assist in creating engaging activities for innovation lab sessions.
  • Research emerging technologies and fintech industry for new opportunities for partnerships and other innovation opportunities.
  • Participate in exploration of potential partnership opportunities with external partners such as fintechs, accelerators, incubators, university programs and more.
  • Assist in maintaining opportunity pipeline dashboards updating as opportunities flow through the innovation business process.
  • Assist product owners of pilots taking them from idea to decision to scale, pivot or end.
  • Assist in continuously sourcing ideas by soliciting and analyzing member feedback from a variety of sources.
  • Work as part of a team, or independently as the situation requires.
  • Prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines.
  • Work closely with credit union experts to create prototypes and other deliverables that support the innovation activities of The Lab at MSUFCU.
  • Participate in training activities as directed to ensure staff compliance with Credit Union policies and state and federal regulations and laws.
  • Assist in reviewing legal contracts and agreements from fintechs while collaborating with the legal department.
  • Perform other duties and assist other employees, as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Actively pursuing Associate or Bachelor degree in any subject matter
  • Must be a team player, able to work collaboratively with multiple departments and personalities including designers, software developers, quality assurance analysts, content strategists and others to complete projects.
  • Work requires an understanding in design thinking, lean start up, agile methodologies.
  • Knowledge of and proven ability to apply design thinking principles to lead collaborative teams.
  • Must have an understanding or desire to learn about the innovation landscape, including the connection to talent acquisition and business outcomes.
  • Ability to be innovative, decisive, exhibit integrity, and build trust
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to present information effectively to coworkers, management, and members.

  • Ability to effectively manage project progress and deadlines

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • May be required to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to operate standard office technology, equipment and tools, which may include many hours of computer and phone usage.
  • Occasionally needs to move about inside of office area
  • Exposure to potentially hazardous condition, i.e. robbery. Receives detailed instructions and procedures to be followed to minimize the exposure
  • This position is able to work in hybrid or onsite working arrangements
