Health and Safety Coordinator
Irvine, Ca

Compensation: $23 - $34/hr.

Summary
The Health and Safety Coordinator is a dynamic position that supports the company's health and safety program and nobody getting hurt goal. This position participates in the professional and technical work for the company's health and safety including, incident investigations, hazard assessment, inspections, safety committee and OSHA compliance.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist with new employee orientation, on-boarding, and training programs.

  • Support in incident investigations, near miss and hazardous conditions as required;

  • Support Safety Committee with health and safety plan initiatives;

  • Assist with the filing and maintenance of Workers Compensation claims

  • Provide guidance and support to all staff for any Health and Safety questions and issuesas required;

  • Ensure program compliance to all legislative and regulatory requirements;

  • Assist with the implementation of a safety management system including safety manual policies and procedures;

  • Work on management system projects assigned by HSE director as required;

  • Review all event cards and inspection reports entered into eCompliance;

  • Update safety boards boards with health and safety data and alerts;

  • 50% field time expected primarily day shift (shift 1) with occasional afternoons and late evenings for 2nd shift visibly once every 2 weeks;

  • Job hazard assessment development with function management and employee involvement;

  • Support in incident investigation, near miss and hazardous conditions as required;

  • Ensure an HSE training/tracking system is maintained and current;

  • Develop presentations, forms, bulletins, and training awareness tools as needed;

  • Follow up with management and employee safety concerns in a timely manner;

  • Assist with safety initiatives as required as Jamieson moves towards ISO 45001

  • Other duties assigned as required;

Qualifications

  • BilingualEnglish and Spanish speaking and writing;

  • 3-5yrs. Health and Safety field related operations,foodmanufacturingoperations will also be consideredand asset;

  • Formal Health and Safety education certificate, diploma or degree and one or more safety designation of the following CSP, ASP, SMS or OSHA 510 is considered an asset.

  • Technical and interpersonal skills to identify HSE issues and communicate corrective and preventative actions through the involvement of management;

  • Capable of working and delivering in complex working environment and under pressure;

  • Strong computer and database management skills;

  • Advanced capabilities with MS Office, including MS Office, MS Excel, MSPowerPoint,and Safety Software systems like(EHS Insightore-Compliancewould be considered a strong asset);

  • The ability to work well independently while understanding when to refer to other team members.

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
