The Role:

Our site in Decatur, Texas is seeking an R&D Process Technician to join our team. The Technical Development Team at POCO Graphite develops new technologies and processes for carbon and carbide materials to grow our core businesses. We are currently seeking a Process Technician to support scientists and engineers in execution of development projects and pilot production plant activities. In this role, you will report to the Manager of Research and Development.

What You'll Do:

  • Become proficient in operating pilot plant and machining equipment.
  • Develop new processes that improve the manufacturing of graphite.
  • Support pilot production of material by machining, testing, cleaning per written and/or verbal instructions.
  • Record data in written or electronic format in an orderly manner.
  • Perform basic calculations, preferably using Microsoft Excel.
  • Work with Technical Development personnel to develop new work instruction procedures for new materials.

What We Seek:

  • High School degree or GED.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment is preferred.
  • Quick learner with the ability to work hands-on with multiple mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read meters, gauges and operate material transport devices and various lab and pilot equipment.
  • Must work well with colleagues in a collaborative environment.
  • Humility and a passion for learning and solving problems.
  • Proficient in English with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and work schedule based on daily tasks.
  • Ability to work safely and keep a clean working environment.
  • Experience in working in an ISO 9000/14000 environment a plus.
  • Dependability with flexibility to work shifts, over-time, and weekends to support business needs. Candidate must have the capacity to comply with the federally mandated requirements of U.S. export control laws.
  • Proficiency in computer programs such as Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Good hands-on mechanical aptitude.
  • Proficiency in basic math skills up through simple algebra.
