Basic Qualifications

Associate's degree in related discipline or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements for a controlled billet in accordance with DoD Instruction 5210.42 Personnel Reliability Program (PRP)

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
epartment of Defense Secret security clearance is required within a reasonable period of time. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Project/Program Overview

Line of Business:

The Maritime & Strategic Systems line of business has substantial focus on open architecture computing, system, integration, unmanned underwater vehicles, RF sensor processing, secure computing and integrated software solutions. Our customers include the U.S.Navy, U.S Air Force, various government agencies, labs and international customers. The business employs over 3,000 professionals across many locations.

What We Do:

Nuclear Weapons Security (NWS) is an engineering development and sustainment business. Currently in the seventh year of being a sole source prime, we are a system integrator and sustainer of Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) physical security hardware and software for mission critical high assurance environments. While NWS is primarily a "people" business with no products on the market right now, we are working to fill a key gap in the security industry with the internal R&D project. Quorum.

Working with Engineering, Operations Support and individuals in other departments, the Advanced Engineering Technician will support engineering activities such as design, test, check-out, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electro mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, laser/light transmission devices or specialized test equipment. This may entail performing the following:

  • Interprets basic engineering drawings, diagrams and schematics
  • Constructs, modifies, debugs, troubleshoots, calibrates, tests and adjusts a variety of tools, equipment and systems
  • Conducts, analyzes and documents statistically based experiments to define process parameters
  • Implements and documents complex solutions for process improvement
  • Designs and constructs basic tooling and fixtures to accomplish unique tasks
  • Organizes, analyzes and interprets data to identify cause/effect relationships and recommends resolution/process improvement

What you bring to the table:
  • An Associate's degree in related discipline or equivalent plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Solid knowledge and proficiency in the use of fabrication tools
  • Ability to fabricate complex hardware
  • Solid knowledge of generally accepted technical theory

Duties and Task:

  • On-cal and call-in status is required after normal working hours, on weekends and holidays on rotating basis.
  • Qualify NWS Electronic Security System Technician within 3 months of hire, to perform minor preventive and corrective maintenance indoors and outdoors on sensors, cameras and active vehicle barriers.
  • Qualify Cyber Security Workforce (CSWF), and System Administrator to perform minor preventive and corrective maintenance on network systems to include AC&D system in secure areas.
  • Some travel may be required

Workplace Options:

  • This position is fully on-site at a DoD owned and operated facility. While on-site, you will be part of the Strategic Weapons Facility Atlantic at Naval Submarine Base, Kings Bay, Georgia

Target salary range: USD $30.45/Hr. - USD $32.69/Hr. This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.
