Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:

  • Familiar with equipment capacity and load capabilities of kiln related material handling equipment on stone, dust, and lime handling systems.
  • Responsible for continuously monitoring equipment and flow and remove blockages in kiln related equipment in a safe and effective manner as needed.
  • Monitor and record daily temperature readings of kiln and related equipment.
  • Assist in resolving production issues, troubleshooting, and adapt to changing conditions.
  • Perform kiln outages and assist kiln operators as needed.
  • Responsible for accurate silo inventory measurements.
  • Ensure that different product types are distributed into the appropriate bins.
  • Clean bins, conveyers, spills, and help clean out material from under conveyers and catwalks, and other cleaning duties as needed.
  • Collect and analyze kiln process samples as required to assist Quality Control.
  • Perform all work assigned in a neat and orderly manner adhering to company and governmental safety rules and regulations including company lock out tag out procedures.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment including vacuum truck, haul truck, Skid Steer loader, front end loader, manlift, and forklift in a safe manner.
  • Assist with training of new employees and/or equipment.
  • Cross train in other production areas as needed.

ATTRIBUTES:

  • Industrial background with good troubleshooting skills.
  • Previous experience operating heavy equipment is desired.
  • Knowledgeable of current environmental regulations and practices as they relate to the lime industry.
  • Must be able perform basic mathematical computations
  • Must be able to work shift work, seven days a week including holidays and be flexible to schedule changes.
  • Must have a telephone and be open to call-outs
  • Self Motivated and must be able to work independently
  • Good decision making skills regarding safety
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as work orders, safety rules, standard operating procedures, maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Tolerate working outside in severe weather conditions as well as exposure to industrial high temperature, lime, noise and dust.
  • Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
  • Ability to occasionally lift/carry 50 pounds.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Six Months production experience in an industrial background preferred
