Mansfield Service Partners is looking for an Equipment Mechanic for our Houston, TX location.


Description

The Equipment Mechanic II is responsible for the inspection, repair and maintenance of the Company's fleet of vehicles. Fleet consists of tractors, fuel trailers, vacuum trailers, stainless steel trailers, van trailers, tankwagons, vacuum trucks, stakebeds, and misc. equipment. This role produces direct results for the success of a 24/7 operation.

Essential Duties:

  • Follow a checklist of work orders outlined by MSP Fleet Manager and other Operation Managers.
  • Check Daily Vehicle Inspection Reports at beginning and throughout shift.
  • Utilize asset management system and parts inventory (Fleetio) and in-cab technology (SmarTruck, Samsara, WasteLINQ).
  • Test drive vehicles to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Raise trucks or equipment by using hydraulic jacks or hoists.
  • Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, pumping systems, meters, overfill systems, running gear, and other parts of vehicles.
  • Do routine maintenance, such as changing oil, checking batteries, and greasing equipment and parts.
  • Adjust and align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and attach system components.
  • Repair or replace malfunctioning components, parts, and other mechanical or electrical equipment.
  • Maintain inventory tracking of tools and supplies.
  • Comply with Safety, DOT, OSHA, and EPA procedures.
  • Attend all company required continuing education and training programs.
  • Collaborate with Dispatch/Operations to ensure clear understanding of repairs and maintenance needed on equipment and priority in which to complete.
  • Perform quarterly periodic maintenance and inspections on all assigned equipment.
  • Perform weekly lot checks to ensure all equipment is in good working order.
  • Coordinate with various departments to ensure high level operational issues are resolved completely and in a timely manner
  • Regularly share best practices and learning opportunities with peers across all MSP teams.
  • Review parts invoices with MSP Fleet Manager for any discrepancy and collaboration for timely approval and payment.
  • Ability to diagnose/repair engine after-treatment systems, other engine work as needed, replace clutches, and repair transmissions when needed.

Physical and Environmental Conditions:

This job operates in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. This position may require travel via vehicle and airplane. Employee may be required to sit for long periods of time. This position may occasionally lift or move up to 15 pounds.

The position is located in an outdoors environment frequent encounters dirt and dust, noise and vibration, fumes and odors and wetness/humidity. May be frequently exposed to mechanical, chemical and electrical hazards. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. This position may require travel via vehicle and airplane. Employee may be required to sit for long periods of time. The incumbent frequently lifts up to 25 lbs.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Working hours are Monday - Friday, 4:00 pm - 1:00 am plus overtime when needed. This position does generally require long hours and occasional weekend work.

Minimum Education Experience and Certification

  • Eight (8) years mechanical experience (automotive, construction equipment, diesel engine mechanic)
  • CDL with Hazmat-Tanker endorsements preferred
  • TWIC Card preferred
  • Mechanic certifications preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Knowledge, Skills. and Abilities

* Proven experience and success as a mechanic

* Must possess effective written and oral communication skills.

* Must have excellent interpersonal skills and problem-solving techniques and skills.

* Establishes and follows procedures and protocols; maintains consistency in work process.

* Experience with pumps and strong mechanical and technical abilities a plus.
