Position Summary
The night auditor plays an integral role at the Hotel at Holmes within the Holmes Student Center. This position provides customer service to our hotel guests and other visitors to ensure they have a positive experience during their stay. Our guests are typically alumni, faculty, staff, community members and conference attendees that are part of the Northern Illinois University community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Records and Reports- 30%
  • Complete night audit responsibilities by running hotel reports for the HSC Business Office, closing out hotel transactions and correcting errors.
  • Keep accurate records for audit purposes.
  • Check cash bags in and out.

Customer Service -30%
  • Provide a high level of customer service for students, visitors and guests of the Holmes Student Center and guests of the Hotel at Holmes.
  • Staff the hotel information desk; answer questions and direct visitors to the correct campus resource or location.
  • Answer hotel phone calls and check phone messages.
  • Make/book hotel guest reservations utilizing reservation software.
  • Make hotel keys for guests.
  • Process hotel guest check in and check out.
  • Provide hotel guests with additional hospitality items, as requested.
  • Accommodate special needs and requests of guests.
  • Check hotel email and respond to email inquiries.
  • Monitor the emergency panel and assist with emergency procedures.

Housekeeping -20%
  • Perform laundry duties as assigned and assist with restocking of laundry items and desk supplies. Assist with hotel housekeeping based on operational needs.

Training -15%
  • Train students and extra help staff on hotel desk night auditor responsibilities and assist in creating training resources.

Perform Other Related Duties as Assigned. -5%


Minimum Required Qualifications (Civil Service)
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
