Essential Functions and Primary Duties
The Director of Operations (DO) works closely with the Division President, and other CBIZ leaders, with direct management and oversight of Program Managers and the Operations Team. The DO will develop and implement strategies to support corporate and divisional goals, and strategic initiatives. Using their excellent leadership and management skills, the DO is responsible for driving highly effective underwriting teams to support and achieve CBIZ's "best-practices/service standards" across multiple offices. The DO is the liaison between CBIZ vendors and CBIZ peers with an active role in creating, augmenting, and optimizing a cohesive workflow and work product. Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Direct management and oversight of program team leadership (Program Managers) and various operations staff, including their coaching and development
  • Recruit, hire and manage division staff
  • Conduct performance appraisals and recommend bonus or merit increase for direct reports
  • Manage all processes and workflows for the division and programs
  • Oversee all computer systems and software used in the division
  • Work with various systems, IT, and third parties to develop and manage all division and program data sets, and produce reports as needed
  • Liaison with IT, Accounting, Legal, and Marketing departments, as well as counterparts in other divisions or regions of the company - managing all regular related activities and special projects as needed, and developing productive relationships throughout the company
  • Manage relationships with various third-party vendors, carriers, and other business partners
  • Oversee division licensing requirements
  • Oversee division compliance requirements including surplus lines tax and reporting requirements
  • Oversee adherence to program Underwriting and Pricing Guidelines
  • Manage internal and third-party audit processes for acceptable results
  • Oversee sub-producer and other distribution models
  • Develop and measure service standards and quality controls to ensure excellent client experience
  • Encourage and support cross-serving efforts
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience/designations in insurance
  • Ability to develop and implement operational plans aligned with budget
  • Must be able to travel based on business needs
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Over 8 years' experience in area of expertise with increasing complexity
  • At least 6years' experience managingand leading staff
  • Must maintain current required licenses and certifications relevant to field of expertise
  • Demonstrateindustry experience; product knowledge, proposal process, underwriting, regulatory trends, and presentations skills
  • Proficient use of applicable technology
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of the organization, both internally and externally
  • Expert knowledge of state and federal legislation and regulations impacting discipline
  • Expertise in managing clients
  • Advanced problem solving and critical thinking skills
