The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.

JOID assists the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) in developing leading edge technologies to counter WMD in support of CCMDs and transitioning these technologies to military services and COCOMs. SPA provides expertise across the full range of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and high-yield explosives (CBRNE) WMD, Counter Improvised Threat and Countering Threat Network technologies to support understanding, detection, identification, characterization, denial, control, disabling, defeating, disposing, safeguarding the force, managing consequences, and test and evaluation in support of military and civilian operations.

We have a near-term need for a UI/UX Designer to provide onsite support out of Lorton, VA.

Responsibilities

The candidate will provide critical decision and analytic support to the Nuclear Technologies directorate (NT) within the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) for assisting with UI/UX web design. Review design research efforts in support of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) experiences and their conversion into software requirements. Assist the government with defining and prioritizing features for VR and AR interfaces. Support VR and AR testing and evaluation events. Assist with identifying, developing, and evaluating technical/programmatic measures of effectiveness and risk-based assessments. Advise and conduct the integration of hardware, software, and organizational procedures and components. Advise and support customer training, development, and documentation of demonstration test protocols for measurement sensors and systems. Assist with requirements traceability in testing and development of new systems or updates to existing systems to meet client needs.

Travel: up to 20%

Qualifications

Required:

    Bachelor's Degree in relevant technical, scientific, or engineering fields or equivalent experience plus 6+ years of experience in UI/UX design.
  • Documented experience working in and leading small teams to achieve desired results and skilled in using personal computer and standard office automation systems (e.g., Microsoft Office, M/S Project).
  • Requires proficiency in wireframing, performing high fidelity mockups and prototyping, 3D animation, and motion design.
  • Experience with M&S integration and execution support, including supporting analysis, review, and assessment of key performance parameters and coordinating with appropriate system architects/engineers to resolve any issues or troubleshoot M&S tools being used and provide resolution to obtain the needed capability.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TS clearance (SCI eligible)

Desired:

  • 2+ years of project programming and data visualization experience
  • Experience with computer programing and familiarity with a variety of programming languages that allows exploration of data through visualization, develop analytic software and models, or create customized solutions such as scripts and dashboards.
  • Experience in government or private analytical organizations with a focus on capability development or resource planning in support of DoD, Joint, or Military Department planning and execution.
  • Ability to translate requirements and observations into clearly defined written products (briefings, reports, White Papers) in short timeframes with little oversight.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
