Job Description

JOB OVERVIEW:

This position is responsible for the application, reconciliation and resolution of payments toward customer's receivables. Identify and resolve issues with internal and external customers in a timely and accurate manner.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • 25 - 35% Reconcile and apply customer checks to match customer invoice remittance using cash application software. Research and resolve payment discrepancies and items held on suspense account for application. Assist leadership team in compiling data for daily reporting (i.e., lockbox, ACH, Wires, UPS and affiliated banking institutions).
  • 25 - 35% Perform account adjustments, resolve bank errors, research missing payments, forward non-A/R checks, process refund checks, application reversals and lockbox reconciliation.
  • 25 - 35% Forward customer credit card payments for processing, catalog miscellaneous correspondence (coupons, credit card payments, tax exempt certificates) received at lockbox sites.
  • 20 - 30% Review customer payment information received as exception from the lockbox and manual application to customer accounts.
  • 5 - 10% Participate in departmental projects and/or provide ad hoc reporting related to the cash application processes.

SKILL:

Good understanding of the job and apply knowledge and skills to complete a wide range of tasks. Apply acquired knowledge of procedures and external regulations.

COMPLEXITY:

Work on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations. May be responsible for making independent procedural decisions.

SUPERVISION:

Work under minimal supervision and receive little to no instruction on daily work, receive general instruction on newly introduced assignments.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Typically 2 or more years of related experience.

PREFERRED EDUCATION:

Vocational training and/or on-the-job training. Bachelor's degree preferred.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Focus on internal and external customer service
  • Demonstrated understanding of cash application process
  • Understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles
  • Familiarity with character recognition software systems
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Experience with JDE AS400 System format preferred
  • Familiarity with Accounts Receivable and Cash Application Management Solution products preferred (Cforia/MC2, Quantum Cash, Hubble, Billtrust).

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Typically, to advance to a new job level, TSMs must demonstrate professional behavior and should consistently be at the high-end of meets expectations or consistently exceed expectations.

TRAVEL / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Office environment. No special physical demands required.

COMPENSATION:

The posted range for this position is $31,997 - 55,994, which is the expected starting base salary range for an employee who is new to therole to fully proficient in the role.Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including education, priorexperience, training, current skills, certifications, location/labor market, internal equity, etc.
